You call it semantics because you lack the knowledge. I call it being accurate. You guys make claims but don’t provide any information to back it up. It they have access to top secret information then they need top secret clearance. It they have access to sensitive or extra sensitive or super duper sensitive, those are just descriptions and not classifications and therefore don’t necessarily require any sort of security clearance at all.

On Thursday, screenshots of an email detailing the number of people different agency departments will retain in D.C. and abroad began circulating on social media and in chat among USAID personnel.

The email says the staff being asked to stay on include 78 people left in the bureau for humanitarian assistance, 77 in the global health bureau, 21 in the Middle East bureau and 12 in Africa, among others. It also notes 75 people left in management, which would bring the active USAID personnel to 289.

A person familiar with the Trump administration’s plans for USAID said the email was real, but added that the final numbers are still being worked out. The individual was granted anonymity because they weren’t authorized to publicly discuss the actions.

USAID to keep on fewer than 300 staff, as thousands placed on leave — POLITICO

I can see how this would bother you deeply. You're a tremendous advocate of speaking truth and "backing up claims. "

I look at all the posts by the libs on this forum where DOGE is concerned and have just one question, Why are you so upset about someone exposing the ree dik uh luss amount of greed and graft in our federal budget. You look to disparage Musk and his crew for exposing what we should all be against. I just cannot understand what you are afraid of him exposing.

They are afraid that 99% of the mainstream media is on the govt payroll and all the BS they spew is false. I’m here to see their meltdowns. It’s good theatre.

Two things. It's how President Musk is operating. It's above the law. Funds are appropriated by Congress. What gives an unelected person appointed by the President the power to stop distribution of said funds? Expose waste? Fine. But do it within the confines of the Constitution.

Second, President Musk will likely throw some babies out with the bathwater. What might seem like waste to him might actually be very important in feeding and saving people. But I'm a rush to save, President Musk is making quick, executive decisions, not involving anyone else, including Congress or those losing funding, who should be able to make their case. Bottom line is there still be unintended consequences.

so you want us to follow the Constitution when it involves exposing graft but not follow the constitution when it comes to illegal aliens. Hmm.

Because we don't trust him, his process, or his nominal boss. The chaos, the illegality, the disregard for consequences, and the far-right radicals in charge are deeply, and prudently, deserving of contempt and distrust.

You are correct. We are finding out how carelessly the government spends taxpayer money. It takes a lot of money to settle millions and millions of illegals all across the country. Luckily, the charade is over and we can begin the spending cuts.

By the way it seems that the expenditures by Lutheran Family Services that Flynn finds objectionable are consistent with the organization's role as a Christian charity.[/QUOTE]

No, it does not. They are aiding illegal activity. They are at least partially responsible for missing children.

Not at all. I distrust/disbelieve the conclusions, the manipulation of data for political gain, and the lack of context and information regarding these breathless, rapid-fire revelations by Musk and his X mouthpieces. This Administration (Musk included) is like a squirrel on meth.

ah I see- unless it is a democrat doing the exposing you just do not trust it= and the absurd amounts of waste being exposed must be false

Wrong. I want the immigration law changed to make undocumented labor to be able to be here legally. I want the Executive not to overly enforce current immigration law, which is not unconstitutional. I also don't oppose ICE from doing their jobs. Again, I want the laws change.

I also don't consider the undocumented immigrants to be evil or assume they are hardened criminals. They are breaking a law I believe to be unjust. And again, I quote MLK Jr. "An unjust law is no law at all."

So why do you accept President Musk from acting unconstitutionally? And do you story that some cuts may be too deep? Or do you just blindly accept what President Musk says and does?

but until and IF the immigration laws are changed you are still against deporting those who are here illegally, so it is just semantics when you say you are not for ignoring the Constitution, you just want us to ignore the laws of illegal immigration until they can b e changed?

The constitution does not mention illegal aliens. When the constitution was written, and for the first over 100 years afterwards, there was no such thing as an illegal alien.

if you conduct a deep-dive audit of all our government institutions, I guarantee you’ll find at least wasteful spending if not theft in every one of them. All of them. Starting with the Pentagon. Unfortunately, that's the nature of any government and many large organizations. Including Churches - at least wasteful spending in many of them. I would bet the majority of posters here would support deep-dive audits in all our gov institutions. And mandatory cuts (10%, 15%, etc) to eliminate waste and get back on budget.

Also, do not believe everything this admin says. They rely on lies, exaggerations, and half-truths. for example, their initial claim about USAID sending $8M to Politico. That has now been confirmed that covered government-wide subscriptions for info & data and approved by both Repub and Dem admins.

That said, for example, you don ‘t shut down an entire hospital and push patients to the street to die just because you find out the administrator was stealing and so you can brag on X. The solution is accountability, some cuts, but not destruction - that’s just lazy and dumb.
