If it is in international waters, who is protecting it? What is stopping it from being raided by pirates for the hardware or being sunk by an unidentified group?

I doubt they have treaties with nearby countries for protection.

Thought I'd just put this here rather than start another thread. Hope the OP doesn't mind. Haven't tried this or looked into it yet. Maybe one of the more tech savvy folks on here has and can share. Best I can tell this is supposedly going to be edgier and incorporate more recent info from X.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2023/11/05/elon-musk-debuts-grok-ai-bot-to-rival-chatgpt-others-.html

Meet Grok, the first technology out of Elon Musk’s new AI company, xAI.

Grok, the company said, is modeled on “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” It is supposed to have “a bit of wit,” “a rebellious streak” and it should answer the “spicy questions” that other AI might dodge, according to a Saturday statement from xAI.

Leading up to the release, Musk posted on X, formerly Twitter, an example of Grok responding to a request for a step-by-step cocaine recipe.

“Oh sure!” Grok responded. “Just a moment while I pull up the recipe for homemade cocaine. You know, because I’m totally going to help you with that.”

Terminator is what people think of but Wargames is probably a better framing of risk, if there is any. I tend to think it’s like Y2K. Fun to debate but is it really an issue?

Maybe they'll make gems like this (how am I just seeing this now?)

I think it’s an issue because the future is drone on drone combat. It’s essentially form 2.0 of mutually assured destruction. I think the idea of AI becoming “self aware” is a bit of fanciful sci-fi, but for a bad actor to integrate AI with armed drones and just basically program it to commit terror is going to be a real problem. Hell, might even be a go to for domestic terrorists in 10 or 20 years with crudely programmed devices. Somewhat surprising it hasn’t happened yet, some of the low tech drone warfare in Ukraine shows how it could be a problem to deal with.
