I fear you are correct, but current negotiations may at least slow it. And I am biased as can be, but AI cannot satisfactorily replace writers/showrunners, IMO

Nothing is inevitable, its only the case if the economy continues to exist for the few. Labor/class struggle is one of the ways of resisting, the only way really. But you are talking to a commie.

The real threat of AI isn’t wiping us out, but rather learning how to easily manipulate us by telling us exactly what we what we want to hear, showing us exactly what we want to see, and making us feel and do exactly what the AI controller wants.

Just take a look at this board and you can see how easily manipulated the masses are. People will hold on to the most ridiculous positions because their curated media and social platforms convinced them they are right. And that’s just humans exploiting current tools. AI will be orders of magnitude more powerful in that sense. It will learn much faster, identify patterns we can’t see, and create real time talking heads tailored to your specific buttons. And this is very close. We are taking years, not decades.

Yeah, I think this is true. AI scams will be the next robo calls/nigerian prince emails. People are worried about Skynet, but its just going to be that Skynet pretends its your brother who needs money and takes you for a couple grand.

So, anyone ever watch TCM or similar old movie channels. Just watched “Desk Set” with Catherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy (1957). It is about what has to be the earliest version of ChatGPT I’ve heard of. The machine is a perfect precursor to AI and this movie makes it clear that we have nothing to worry about. Watched just because I had nothing better to do recovering from COVID and kinda thought obligated to history to watch those two actors in a flick I hadn’t watched before. It is so appropriate considering today’s technology advances, and ironic that we have the same worries they had 65 years ago.
