SS knows his job is on the line and Fuchs doesn’t care about football as an interim.

To a neutral person there are dozens of coaches we can get are better. Either SS doesn’t believe that or he’s biased. Either way I hope he’s right

Flatly disagree Crusher. Multiple replacements in his initial coaching staff. Resulting improvements across the defense and on special teams. Improved performance on offense running and throwing and receiving, in the face of significant injuries. Better gameday decisions — disagree?, how about a 2-minute drive to score before the end of the half against Georgia?

Hey I get that you want more and it’s been slow coming - but to state that he hasn’t learned anything is straight up bullshit.

Sadly true, and I'm afraid its been that way for quite some time. We are just beginning to experience the inevitable ramifications of the rot and things could get even worse if this lackadaisical approach to our biggest cash cow remains....it will eventually impact all the sports since Football is the cog that drives the UAA's financial wheel.

The right guy? I'm guessing they see the urgency in getting the next one right, but IDK. I like the guy, but there's nothing inspiring at all about BN. So the guys are trying hard instead of rolling over on the season. Isn't that the bare minimum?

No insider info CHFG8R but my guess is: 1) Billy is VERY WELL LIKED by everyone around him. (Nice Person Syndrome).
    2) The team ratched up play another level the last 5 games and the persons "In charge"
see hope for the future (and of course keeping DJL around and happy).

It makes sense to me recruiting wise. It's a PR statement, just words for the purpose of temporarily benefiting us... hope it helps, we need it.

A lot can happen in the next month making those words the start of some momentum or completely meaningless - which would put us right back where we were before he wrote it.

Im not against it but that means they’ve been wrong. They hired Billy to recruit. We were told the HS route was better and to ignore the transfer route (Ole Miss).

What happened? Is this a true shift, is so why? What changed vs last year? Is this desperation?

Is Billy even the right coach for a transfer style build? I’d argue in such a build a pure tactician is better

28 million reasons why and two built in excuses.

    1. They have played better and gave Tenn & Georgia a big scare

    2. 2 star QBs down and now we are playing a WO freshman

It would have been great to see Mertz or DJ finish the season to see how it would of played out. I thought we had a chance to be 2-2 going into the FSU game.
I feel it is going to get super negative now over the next 3 weeks. I hope I am wrong.

Or perhaps the thought is…we’re doing better than FSU so might as well stay the course

Ali Peek seems to think that it's your post that falls into that category. Certainly this decision by Stricklin seems to fall into that category. I have no insight into the money situation, so if this decision was made strictly to get the buy-out down, then I can understand that. If it's about a narrative that UF gave Napier a more-than-fair opportunity to succeed, even one year beyond when it was obvious he did not have it what it takes to win here, then I don't agree, but I understand. If it comes from some forlorn hope that Napier is going to be different in Year Four than he was in the last three seasons, then that truly is idiotic. Our eyes do not fool us: there is no potential for even lukewarm performance -- call that sustained 8-4 -- with this head coach, let alone "long-term success."

It’s not the player’s fault we are losing. They are playing hard and doing what they can to out their best of tape. We are losing because of bad coaching. I can write more, but we’ve already heard it all. I suppose at some point it just comes off as whining.

We are two games away from a game our Gators played their hearts out and lost purely on the boneheaded in game decisions by their head coach. Tell me about the improvements he's going to make to our final record. He has one job: coach the team to win football games. If he can't then he should be gone and if he's not the University is clearly just playing the the fans for fool$.

How early? ESD is 12/4-6 this year. Extremely unlikely isnt strong enough to say any transition isnt going to make a difference on a class at any school.

You can out put this down for next year - my prediction for another 5-7 season at best. It really depends on Billy being able to recruit another 15 5 stars by Feb and paying about 20 players to stay. Otherwise, he will have no choice but play the portal lottery game and hope he doesn't pull a Norvell. Put it this way, Billy is having a hard time trying to woo a 4 star QB from FSU.
