Nope, my data is as anecdotal as your "knowing a lot of Gators". Did you run a poll on that? Just saying what I have seen... not discounting what you or others have seen.
We don’t have to win. Just play tough from time to time. I’d say we’re Vandy only Vandy’s winning now.
Ignore the transfer route? Who said that? Mertz, Ricky, Badger, etc would suggest nobody's ignoring it. Maybe they think they screwed around too long making this decision to get a great HS class this year and they think they have to go portal. Maybe they think there will be a lot of gems to get in the portal. Maybe they think we have a good young base and the best thing would be to get upperclassmen from the portal. Who knows? Doubt that kind of thing will be shared with us. idk what a "transfer style build" even is, but you can argue any hypothetical under the sun is better because we don't have the counterfactual. If there is no actual recruiting required then sure a tactician could be better but we don't know that those are the circumstances nor do we have a "pure tactician" on deck.
Actually, I've talked to many of them. Didn't have to poll them. They had no problem offering their opinions. You're just guessing as to your statement.
Lol. Meanwhile we have a school just down I-10 that shows why that's a mistake and a school down south that showed recruiting talent especially on the LOS is still important.
I hope I’m wrong, but I can only see things getting incrementally better at best. He is just not a top caliber coach. Poor play calling, bad situational awareness, horrible clock management, no killer instinct, lack of enthusiasm, energy, passion, etc. keeping CBN affirms the administration’s acceptance of mediocrity. We will be mid tier level conference team at best. CBN is a nice guy, but not a championship caliber coach. Talent alone will not fix this.
Glad to hear it - the guy has heart and a great process. He said from the jump this was a 5 year rebuild and he is right. I'm a proud Florida alumni and lifelong season ticket holder and I support the Gators and Billy Napier! Go Gators!!
IMO, it was the most rational choice in this moment. FTR, the first two real games were unmitigated disasters and I along with many others essentially threw in the towel on Billy in that moment. But in the last month, there has been an undeniable pattern of consistent, notable improvement - particularly on the D. It would appear that we may no longer be stuck in reverse, maybe. In hindsight, it's obvious the team has not given up or that BN has not lost the locker room. Better men than me have fallen on their faces and then gone on to regain their footing. Frankly, I'm like you in that I don't respect or trust Lane Kiffin - nor do I want to act in haste, yet again. The idea of hiring another unproven, non-P4 HC makes me nauseous, especially if SS is going to be the one doing the hiring. In the here and now, BN does some things quite well. If he can let go of the OC job/play calling, and learn how to play the clock, all may not be lost quite yet. Maybe.
Whoop Dee Doo about the negativity surrounding BN right now, it has quieted down quite a bit. If we lose the next 3 in a row it will be crazy hellacious and knowing he will not be let go and a 60 ranked recruiting class. You have not seen anything yet
You went off on the wrong tangent. The question isn't "what they said" it's the percentage of people who feel that way is what both you and I are guessing at. How am I guessing what they said when they wrote it in comments sections?
Having been a Gator fan since I was a freshman in 1963, can assure you that nothing can be done which is irreparable. A few fans will probably remember the 0-10-1 season
No, my statement was based on what I have actually been told personally how many fans feel. Don't know where you get you percentages from, but I've looked at multiple sites, and few are supportive of Billy staying. I'd love to be wrong and Billy staying and turning it around, but so far what we've seen doesn't indicate that will happen. I've read many times right here on Gator Country that UF isn't a training ground for a head coach. We're in year three and it took two humiliating losses before we fielded a team that looked like they even wanted to be on the field. Also, why should the defensive players have to go to the coach and request a change be made in how they play defense? Anyone not looking through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars could see that some sort of changes should've been made.
Tell me what coach will want to come here ??? Billy is our guy . I’m good with him. Don’t wanna blow it up again.
