In addition to some big baskets, his second half presence was HUGE on both ends. Offensively, his aggression finally put Houston on their heels a bit, and he allowed Clayton to get off the ball a bit… and to get loose. He had a monster impact on that game, imo.
..and he scored the 65th point. That changed what Houston was able to do on their last possession. They stayed outside going for the win, wanted no part of OT.
He was terrific defensively. Staff left him in for almost 11 minutes straight, and we were 23-15 in that stretch.
I am scared he is going to hit the portal ....he was phenomenal tonight. Hopefully the NIL monster doesn't take the first bite out of our team.
No chance. He loves Florida, will likely start next year, and is likely to get a nice bump in NIL from the program. The staff absolutely prioritizes retention.
Starting PG with our returning front court is like his best wet dream. Added in edit: I hope that wasn't too much.
Big minutes from a guy who could have done the trendy thing this offseason and left for more minutes. We are lucky to have him.
The way Denzel, Tommy, even the starting five, have embraced their place in achieving a team victory is so fundamental to team sports and yet is so uncommon these days. It says so much about what the staff surely emphasizes but at the end of the day the players must have the character to accept it and make it happen. Denzel represents this 'Team before Self' very well.
He missed one of those free throws, but he drew the foul hustling after an errant pass that would have given them the last shot only one down.
