I don’t know where you personally stand with Trump, but Republicans just killed a border reform bill that they initially supported, because Trump didn’t like it - because the law might make look Biden look good.

So the USSC with a Republican majority just said Biden can cut the fence and is thus constitutional, but instead we should listen to Catherine on X.

Earlier you stated, "even if one person", now it is ok just because it is a smaller rate of abuse?

This article goes a little deeper into the claim that the admin had "lost 85,000 kids" and more or less says they have lost contact with them. It would be very surprising to me if at least a percentage of these "kids" were not subjected to human trafficking. Even if the percentage is only 10%, you are still looking at nearly 10,000 kids.
The question we have to ask ourselves is if we can't adequately provide for these kids, should we allow them to enter?

I like a lot of Trump policies but not all his rhetoric. I haven't spent enough time reviewing the entire bill HR2 but what little I read about it, I think I like it. The desire to not pass it may be what they have to give up in the Senate to pass it. I don't know. I could care less about who gets credit and if that is Trumps reasoning then I think he will lose a lot of potential voters. I don't have an understanding of why he doesn't want it passed and just because "some say" he doesn't want the win for Biden, I don't accept at this point.

LOL, anyone with half a brain doesn't believe this is the right way to run our immigration system...it's all a huge scam.

Did you read the entire article? The majority of these kids aren't lost. DHS has lost contact. That's because, as explained in this article, many of the guardians are undocumented themselves, and don't trust to speak to anyone from the government. Again, if we had a guest worker program that would legalize these immigrants, this problem goes away. And how many of the 85k children would be found? Hard to say, but I'd bet the overwhelming majority.

But as the second article states, every one of the guardians are vetted before receiving the child(ren). They have no criminal background, and often times, are related to the children. Not saying all the kids aren't being trafficked, but I can say, with certainty, it's not all 85,000.

It is a bit rich that every Republican Governor is supporting the violation of the law and ignoring the Supreme Court rulings on the matter because people are trying to to immigrate, largely legally (as a reminder, it is legal to claim asylum), and is trying to claim that they are doing it due to people breaking the law.

Or, to put it another way:

It is legal to cross the border anywhere you want?

Nope, but once you apply for asylum, you gain legal status until the claim is adjudicated. Illegal entry is not a ground for inadmissibility for asylum.

But they were perfectly fine with sending Haitian children back that were in the same circumstance just prior.

    MSN

Article about Trump suggesting that the gop governors of other states send national guard troops to Texas in defiance of the scotus ruling about the border being a FEDERAL issue.
*even though it is an MSN article: HE STILL SAID IT.

It's not great to encourage insurrection 2.0 while you are still in legal trouble over insurrection 1.0.

The information is out there. It’s just a question of whether you’re willing to accept it. Some quotes from Republican senators

'Immoral': Some Republicans rebuke efforts to kill immigration deal to help Trump

“The border is a very important issue for Donald Trump. And the fact that he would communicate to Republican senators and Congress people that he doesn’t want us to solve the border problem — because he wants to blame Biden for it — is really appalling,” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, told reporters.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., urged his colleagues not to make it all about politics at the behest of another candidate. “I didn’t come here to have the president as a boss or a candidate as a boss. I came here to pass good, solid policy," Tillis said. “It is immoral for me to think you looked the other way because you think this is the linchpin for President Trump to win.”

Their comments came one day after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in a private GOP meeting, outlined the political difficulties facing the emerging deal on immigration and foreign aid, including opposition from Trump as he cruises to the Republican presidential nomination. The belief among some conservatives is that preventing an agreement will cause voters to blame President Joe Biden for a chaotic situation at the border, even though he has endorsed the negotiations.
