Via audible, you're right. Spurrier called the initial play, but even said at one time during the presser that it was Danny's job to change it into the right play for the defense presented. He always said that there was a successful play for every defense, you just had to get the O into it.
I am not complaining about Napier’s Army, but I am saying that his army could use an air force. By that I mean, a dedicated OC who can unlock next level potential in these athletes— something to give Florida a tactical advantage against similarly talented athletes and coaches.
To be fair OP brought the topic into discussion in his post so it’s a fair topic to discuss IMO. Besides there is no dedicated thread on whether he needs an OC or not.
I wonder what the best offense in the nations rank would be if they played the defenses we played this year. My guess would be, not number one.
That's why statics are flawed in several ways... You know the saying. There are lies, dammed lies and statistics.
Who said we need to have the #1 offense? Nobody. There's a big difference in the #1 offense and the #64 ranked offense. He needs an OC, big time, but he won't get one. While we do need an OC, I'm not under any illusions that if he hired one it would go well. He is still trying to learn how to coach in the SEC.
Interesting, since this "we have to have an OC" comes up in almost every thread. I think you might be wrong about that. Pour a scotch and grab Ron Burgundy and see if you can get to the bottom of this!
"Haters" who are Gators and are happy with us having 8 wins, AND want more for the Gators. Such an absurd comment. Some folks believe in Napier without reservation. I hope they are right. Some folks think Napier can succeed with his plan with little alteration. Again, I hope they are right. Some believe that the path with Napier may need more changes (as he has done before), including an OC. They are not "haters", they just think the final product will be improved with a different staff. And, yes, there are folks that gave up on BN far too prematurely (they are the analog, in my opinion, to those who believe in BN without reservation). Comments from either of those extremes are low value, and your requirement of unthinking devotion to a concept of BN as the full answer with no help (maybe he now wants an OC) seems ludicrous. Hell, the HBC finally hired a quality DC and it brought us a nattie.
