It's no problem, it is second hand information so we all take it for what it is worth. I just know my source heard this after being with this player after the Ole Miss game. He drove to Mississippi to see him play.
MH - Ever hear of "Pistol Pete Maravich" - lol (I know you have) Half his passes were between the legs or behind the back......
Accurate or not, thanks for the info. I asked in the Tennessee game thread why Lane doesn’t play at all. So many players have absolutely horrid plays - if not more than one - every single game and yet they play tons of minutes and we never see Lane. While I am no fan of his game, down 3-4 players in a week we play 4 games in 8 days, you’d think every player would get some minutes just to keep some legs fresh. in a two minute stretch vs Tenn Gatgek shot an air ball from 18 ft (he should never shoot beyond a dunk or layup), appleby dribbled one off his shoe out of bounds, reeves drove out of control and threw a shot from one side of the hoop to the other - an air ball missing by like ten feet, McKissic threw two passes into traffic that both never made it near a gator…yet they all never get pulled while Lane sits the bench.
It’s shocking anyone thinks Lane should get minutes. I know we love our players, but you have to be realistic.
I don’t think Lane has proven he deserves to be on the court, but I also hope that it’s not cause our “nice guy” coach (who hasn’t proven much himself) is being petty. Surprised he hasn’t transferred already to be honest.
What leads me to give this credence is how many of our young players transfer out after one year in the program. It’s hard to prove you belong on the court if you don’t get an opportunity to prove it. Wasn’t the same thing being said about Reeves (that he didn’t deserve more playing time) before he started playing better? It’s easier to sell “wait your turn” to young players when the players in front of them are playing well, but not so much when they are not. It seems that White gives the transfer players much more rope to make mistakes than incoming freshman players.
shouldn't one of our beloved members of the press ask White about Lane's status? We are getting to the point, where we might not have 8 scholly guys ready to play
nobody is surprised that we are losing to a mediocre Oklahoma State team by double digits at home, and even the diehards on the Gator basketball message boards are reminiscing about a LOSS from FOUR years ago. if that doesn't perfectly sum up the current state of Gator Basketball, I don't know what else possibly could. fannnn-tastic.
It was nice to see Niels out there today. He brought a lot of energy and played well, especially on D.
Neil’s was one of the reasons we beat the Cowboys! Started the second half, he provided great defense on their physical guards and it allowed us to climb back in the game. Gatkek was all over them, hits bunch of free throws, at least one bunny shot. These two’s play made the difference tonight. Congrats to both of them!
