We’ll see with H Waller, but agree.even with the economic issues, many repubs who are election deniers/maga were LOST. It really gives me hope for our democracy. The big test will be when Dear Leader announces his 2024 and his followers get spun up and chase various conspiracy theories.

While I will agree Mayor Pete is really light on resume, I’ve always been puzzled by your modest disdain for him. I think why he appeals to many is he comes off as intelligent and talks like an adult, not a pandering politician.

Whitmer is one to watch. Watching her victory speech she didn’t come across as really comfortable, reading her speech off of a piece of paper. She does a good job of emphasizing “kitchen table” issues.

Klobachar seems pretty down to Earth and competent. She doesn’t have the strongest presence.

    Mixed feelings on Gavin Newsom.

It's from the 2020 primary. Didn't appreciate how disingenuous he was, and I knew about the dirty stuff he and his team were doing behind the scenes from my friends in politics. It was distasteful. There's a reason his comms strategist is not a popular figure in Democratic politics, despite the impressive work she did building his profile.

Some might think that's a strength. And they're entitled to that opinion. I am a person who thinks electing people who lack character because they're effective politicians doesn't lead to positive places.

On the Republican side what about Nikki Haley, she might work with some of the trumpistas but she always appeared competent to me? I also like Klobuchar on paper but her nasal voice really irritates me. Stupid reason not to support a candidate but it is what it is.

Haley would be among the better ones of current Republicans but she is still pro Trump and is now considered a RINO amongst Republicans because she said Trump let us down on Jan 6th.

I agree Klobachar with her nasal quivering voice would have an uphill battle. It is sad that is important but it is what it is.

Tell him he’s governor of Virginia. He should stop acting like he’s governor of Florida

Youngkin’s reign has been pretty quiet so far here. Which is I’m sure how he wants it generally, given the slow movement of this state left.

He’s done nothing to offend me yet. The GOP needs more like him.

My wife said Mrs Youngkin was very pleasant/cordial btw

Does it bother any of you that it takes so long to get the outcome of election day? I'm not saying anything nefarious is going on, but can we not have a system that unless there is runoff have the results Tuesday night or at worse on Wednesday?
This dragging out and taking so much time just gives the conspiracy nuts food to promote the craziness, which I think we mostly can agree is at worst a minimal issue. I don't know, just think states should be required to do better.

It would require, among many other things:

    1. Making changes that mailed ballots would have to be received days or weeks prior to the actual election day.
    2. (Potentially) earlier dissemination of mail-in ballots to ensure that #1 is reasonable.
    3. Early and absentee ballots would also have to be counted before election day.

Those are big changes that I don't see how you ever get a majority of legislators to agree to, to be honest.

I live in Arizona. It's been almost a week, and we still don't have some races called yet. Frustrating, but I understand why. And I like the system the state has. I think it allows for the most people voting possible, and its the scrutiny that all mail-in ballots go through that is the cause for delay. It's also the reason why there is so little actual fraud. 2020, over 3 million ballots, and the Attorney General, a R, looked into any and all fraud claims. He found a grand total of 9 fraudulent votes.

Petty had it right. The waiting is the hardest part. But I don't mind waiting a few days if it means they get the count right, and allows for the maximum number of people to vote possible.

I get it, just would like to see that system work a little more efficiently and quickly. It's a lot harder for the nut jobs to think something bad going on when the count comes out quickly

Can’t wait to see Karen Lake’s response when she loses. What a vile troglodyte of a human being.

They are nut jobs. They will find a way to whine and cry no matter what. The difference is we elected a nut job as POTUS, and the whining and crying not only went mainstream, it became an insurrection.

There are two bottlenecks in the Arizona process. One, verifying signatures. I don't think there is much that can be done to speed up this process. The second is counting votes, which seems to be limited at around 90,000 a day in Maricopa County. If the County could count faster with the same accuracy, this would help speed up the process.

She's been referred to as "Trump in a dress". When the election is called for Katie Hobbs which appears to be the case although Lake still has a remote chance of winning Lake will probably go ballistic like Trump claiming the she was the victim of election fraud. It wouldn't surprise to see Trump announce that she will be his running mate once the Republican presidential primary campaign begins in earnest.
