Again, numbers are numbers. Mullen couldn’t get his recruits on campus. Billy looks like he will. Only time will tell.

But with regards to recruiting rankings it’s a draw so far. Billy can still add some pieces by February and increase his ranking.

So far I see no adapting in Billy. No ST coach, no OC, 2 OL coach failed experiment still in play.

He has time though. Hope he makes it count.

Again, ignore whatever you’d like. Time will tell if Billy has done/will do enough, but time has already told the story of DM’s numbers—they were a lie.

It's not a draw on recruiting. Mullen's star recruits weren't going to get admitted, and on average Napier's recruits have higher star ratings, for what that is worth.

But I guess we shall see.

I don’t think we should have ever fired Jim McShark.

    Ok. I’m kidding.

That is certainly the optics. The alumni & fanbase is too massive for this mediocrity. On top of the SEC money brought in. There's a major problem somewhere outside of the sports realm imho.

This recruiting number crap has to stop. Recruiting rankings are a predictive measure, projecting HS players future contributions and abilities. After 4-5 years using recruiting rankings to judge production is akin to saying Tom Brady was a journeyman QB because he was drafted in the 6th round. The results are in, those predictions are no longer needed or relevant other than to evaluate how accurate they were. In Mullen's case, they were way off as those "top 10" classes are at best slightly over .500 and many are under or long gone.

Napier by comparison can't be judged yet, as with many things Billy the potential is there, but we shall see.

He has not out recruited him. Numbers/rankings show that.

Personally I think that disconnect is the crux of the issue. Most fans Really, Really want a program that competes for championships and believe that being average is a problem. Somewhere somebody or somebodies are looking at revenue and thinking “I don’t see a problem.” The KPI’s are wholly different.

There was a poster here in the summer who said we should have kept him because he had a top class committed, which as we all know means nothing.

Back to the original topic, I used to hear Mike Farrell hits on Atlanta radio and back when Mullen was coach, Farrell dumped on him all the time, so either a Farrell has changed his tune or he is just saying we would be better off with one kind of loser versus another kind of loser.

    No logic in this argument.

If you win more games you are better off as a program.

Some programs perform above their recruiting rankings. Example: Utah.

    Some perform below. Example: aTm.

Mullen neglected a lot of things and the program took a downturn. But if in the end he would have won more than Billy in ‘22 and ‘23 and potentially in ‘24 and ‘25 as well, no one can argue our program would be better off.l with Billy in charge.

Dan Mullen needed to be fired. That does not equal Billy Napier needing to be hired.

Yes agreed. How did Jimbo do with the 17th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 1st, and 10th ranked classes in that exact order at TAMU? Poorly because he isn't a great coach and as you stated those are HS ratings. They're playing CFB now. BN has been here 3 years, his players should be able to line up, tackle, block, and execute his plays next year since the majority are his players.

I don't really care if they go 3-9 if they look like competent players and don't spit on people. They don't control the schedule but they do control their level of preparedness, dedication and behavior. In fact that's really all they control so they should do it well. That's a coaches job, if you do that you'll win the games you should and a few you shouldn't.

The more I look at it, I think Mullen got fired on purpose because of the scheduling facing him. I'm positive had Mullen still been here, he would have been fired based on 2023 output, which is 4-8. The reason why is Mullen would have chased off AR for his boy EJ in 2022, an EJ would have hit the portal at the end of 2022 any way to get away from UF leaving Mullen with nobody. I figured another 4-8 season this year under Mullen and 1-11 next year. Even the flips on defense wasn't that much of upgrade over Grantham.

What I think is wild is if DM was trying to head to the NFL, he did an awful job trying to convince an owner to take a chance on him. I'd personally love to know why he kept so many dead weight coaches??

You forgot shit show of a defense and star players bailing out...oh and that virtually unused turnover band leader baton.
