With young stars like Collins and Searcy here I thought we only go after an edge if he was elite and showed that in the biggest stage. That’s Scourton!!

 

Any chance, since he will be in Florida, that CBN could get a visit from Scourton?

 

We should all have zero doubt that Billy and staff are working their asses off to land talent from the portal. We know he’s anything but lazy, we know he knows how to identify talent, and we know they all put on a great show when kids come in to visit. We are also told that UF has a top 10 pool of NIL money to work with. So if we miss out on a portal guy we need to ref$u or Auburn or any other school not named Bama or Georgia, why do you suppose that is?….

I may be off target but my take is that our competition is literally dropping absurd amounts of cash in the 11th hour to scoop up these guys, and the ones that value the highest bidder defect. It’s frustrating, especially for the short term, but if Billy can keep his job long enough to start delivering winning seasons, the UF approach may well deliver more sustainable results in the long haul. I sure hope that’s the case

Yeah and to be fair I’m not sure we had perused him or not. I just know that was a name thrown out there. If you go off UF Twitter we miss on every coach and every player that is “available”.

 

Lotta names in the portal. Very few worth offering and even fewer are going to be starters. Cooler heads prevail.

 

Agree. And also have to figure our coaches know who else might be entering portal. So their plan is based on that as well. Doesn’t mean we will get everyone obviously, but might explain why we don’t go after kids it might appear we should have interest in.

 

The Florida Gator brand has been damaged. Too many losing seasons and not being relative for too long. Kids like the cash for sure but if we were winning or looking more competent as a program, I think some of the big dog transfers would be giving us more of a look. I'm not sure you can turn it around unless Napier starts winning or you bring in a coach who can bring the brand back and start winning.

 

I have a feeling, if given enough time, Coach Napier can bring us back to relevance.
