Just started reading The Shift The Dramatic Movement Toward Health Centered Dentistry. Western Medicine has been so focused on the quick fix. Not saying drugs are bad. Shoot many are amazing creations. But we as a society need to reckon with reality. This was a great quote from John McCamy MD and James Presley Human Life Styling 1975 “There is a vacuum in health care right now. Only a few, perhaps a few hundred, are actively teaching true health care in this country. We need to start redistributing medical training funds, in order to provide more true health training. We need fewer persons trained in disease treatment and more in preventative medicine, until there is a fifty-fifty balance.” So many diseases are treatable and even reversible.
Integrative Medicine or Functional Medicine will help tremendously in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders before they get to the tipping point. The point at which a person is seeking a 3 digit number to call. Instead our health system is in and out and as a whole lacks the ability to treat and prevent properly. That said…I think the OP is excellent for the purpose and I am just adding to what I believe we need to focus/shift on in medicine to address this important health issue.
