David Corn had a good piece this morning on the inhumanity of the US sponsored Chilean coup 50 years ago. Though I usually tend to support on balance US hegemonic behavior as protecting freedom around the world given the local alternatives, most recently exemplified in Ukraine, I take a different tack in this hemisphere. Our abuses in Latin America have been all too real, and with limited exception, have not been better than the alternative that the people would express. Pinochet and Chile remain worth considering currently, given that an uncomfortable number of young us right wing neofascist seem enamor with Pinochet. El Conde dropped on Netflix though I haven't seen yet
The T-shirt I thought I was adding to the old one when I inadvertently created a new thread. Example of Pinochet chic
