LOL, you don't think that regulation of drugs minimizes drug abuse in the United States?

Oh, wait : "I see that drug abuse still happens, therefore any and all regulation is useless and meaningless. And proves that we certainly don't need any regulation of firearms, because if it doesn't reduce ALL firearm crime, the regulation is meaningless! "

Is that the silly argument that you are trying to make? Didn't we hear that tired old tripe in the late 80s from the NRA? Do better, please.

It was illegal for the guy to rob someone and most likely he was not a legal gun owner so he was already breaking laws. Do you think he would care if there were a few more added laws for him to ignore? People who would follow the laws are not going to rob and shoot anyone to start with.

Agree. So where does that leave us in terms of any kind of prevention?
    1. Lock more people up for longer periods?
    2. Reduce the number of guns in circulation?
    3. And, of course, make sure everyone is raised in happy, secure homes where they know right from wrong?

Lol. I think that there would be quite a bit fewer guns in the hands of criminals, if we had responsible gun laws.

For just one small example; in many places guns can be purchased from private sellers or at gun shows without a background check. This certainly increases criminals' ability to procure firearms.

We could go on about how particular regulations might make incremental improvements, and it's an additive process. Eventually there would be fewer guns in the hands of criminals. Like.....if we had brains and started this 40 years ago.....then that would be RIGHT NOW.

Seriously, does none of this make sense to you? Your arguments are so stale and low level, they'd be laughable in the junior high.

So IYO, we dont need gun laws because "hey, the drug laws don't work (perfectly)!" What's next, don't need laws against murder because, well, the drug laws haven't ended drug abuse?

It's pretty easy to see, actually, as has been for about 50 years; according to people like you we just don't need laws on guns because you really really like guns!

You really think criminals are buying guns at gun shows? You don't have a clue.

Some are. And other places without background checks. And people who might SELL to criminals are buying at these places. And 18 year-olds, who might give/sell weapons to other people are doing so. As well as buying weapons (like AR-15s) legally. (See Columbine for 18 year old buying and giving multiple guns to minors.)

If you don't think these things are happening and contributing to gun violence You don't have a clue.

It's just so weird that we have all this gun violence with all these guns everywhere, and places without guns everywhere have no gun violence. It's just so hard to figure out!!!!! ;)

Some of us would like to see the problem fixed before we have a closer one of "our own" shot. Some even consider the appx 50,000 Americans annually killed by guns to be "our own. "

Others think this amount of gun violence and killing, and kids doing lockdown drills in school, is normal and acceptable.

"Herr de derr, there's just NOTHING we can do about it. That's why no other country has this problem! Derr...."

I wont deny that there is some truth to your post. I deal with it in my work every day

But it changes nothing about the disgusting lack of personal responsibility and total disregard for human life.

Attacking an innocent person because you were dealt the bad hand isnt an excuse.

Totally agree. There are far too many people who don't follow the norms of society.

We've got to make it at least a little bit more difficult for them to get firearms to hurt people with.

Meanwhile the Republican city of Winder, GA just had a tragic school shooting. I bet OP won’t lament on that city turning into a “cesspool.”
