NEW YORK (AP) — Federal immigration authorities arrested a Palestinian activist Saturday who played a prominent role in Columbia University’s protests against Israel, a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s pledge to detain and deport student activists.

Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate student at Columbia until this past December, was inside his university-owned apartment Saturday night when several Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents entered and took him into custody, his attorney, Amy Greer, told The Associated Press.

 

Trump posted on Truth Social, "Following my previously signed Executive Orders, ICE proudly apprehended and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student on the campus of Columbia University. This is the first arrest of many to come. We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity, and the Trump Administration will not tolerate it."

"She handed the documents to the agent, who was talking to someone on the phone. The agent looked confused when he saw the documents and said, 'He has a green card,'" the document stated.

However, the agents still proceeded to detain Khalil and did not give his wife "any information at all as to how to find out where her husband will be taken, on what grounds, or who she can contact,” the filing stated.

 

This is too rich coming from the administration of a president who is a backer of Germany's neo-Nazi AFD party, the dinner host of neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes, and who leads an administration full of Jew hating white nationalists.

And Trump's and the extreme right's support of Zionism says NOTHING about whether or not they do or do not like Jews. Their support of Zionism is centered on the fundamentalist Christian view that for Jesus to return, Jews must be in charge of Israel. Yes, horrible...he is being targeted due to his beliefs and the words he uttered. Ponder this again: Trump imprisoned him because of his beliefs and the words he uttered. This is just like what Orban has done in Hungary and what Putin has done in Russia. It is fascistic to penalize and/or imprison a person because the person disagrees with "Dear Leader".

Similar to this is that Trump is trying to destroy a law firm, making it impossible for it to take on clients, because they defended Democratic leaders and took on Democratic focused issues. Yes, their security clearances were taken away for representing people Trump does not like, so they cannot take on cases related to security issues. He has also banned them from federal buildings, so they cannot even enter a federal court room, rendering them OUT OF BUSINESS.
