Jaydon Hill looked shaky in his first game back from his knee injury, then followed that up with a 2 interception performance (with one being a pick-6), and he appears to be the only DB who really understands how to play zone. Grouping him in with Tre'Vez is pretty unfair.
...Ok? And against that terrible QB Tre'Vez was still noticeably worse than Hill. I'm not sure i see your point. In fact, pretty much every DB other than Hill looked pretty bad against Mizzou for the most part.
Well there's no denying we need the new influx of talent back there -- that's why it's such good news we got these two guys. But this line "If things continue as they are, teams are going to continue to feast in our passing game until we get guys back there who do more than just watch" struck me as awful negative considering we just got two highly rated DBs.
Man I gotta disagree with you there. Jaydon was quoted saying he recognized that play from studying film. He made a recognition jumped the route and made a play on the ball. That was not bo nix throwing straight to the chest of Donovan stiner in the end zone. Also you are downplaying the youth in our backfield. Moore has great potential as do kamari Wilson and others. They haven't shown anything so far to assume they won't be High end contributors here. Sure it's not a forgone conclusion but they haven't shown anything that says they won't be either.
If it takes no athleticism or skill to maintain proper position in the zone, effectively read the QB and route, and immediately break on the route at the exact right time to make a pick in stride and take it to the house, then every other DB is SIGNIFICANTLY worse than Jaydon Hill, and grouping him in with other players who are barely ever even in the vicinity of a receiver is unfair. Like i said in my original reply to you.
Y’all know the original post was about why are we loading up at DB? As if to imply *any* of our current DBs are up to par with the DBU standard. You’re arguing over who is grouped in with who and who’s better and blah blah, but yet….none of them are good enough for DBU. We need more talent, and always will, should never not be acquiring talent, end of discussion. “This is a talent acquisition business” - Billy Napier.
Yes - safety is difficult position for a freshman so that bodes well for Wilson. Also agree on Jaydon jumping that route - he was helped by Miller bumping receiver but took advantage of the disrupted timing and made a great play. Don't understand why our fans decide to go negative instead of recognizing the defense is getting better as they learn the system and we are playing young guys and winning. Hope this weekend doesn't make me look dumb but I saw a lot of good from the defense last week. Yeah I know - the 3rd and longs but those 3rd and longs were due to the defense making plays - not because Missouri QB was terrible.
We shall see. That was his first game without the knee brace and he looked good flying all over the field. Confidence was the only concern really.
Exactly. Literally my only point was that comparing Jaydon Hill to Tre'Vez Johnson is unfair. You're the one making more out of it bro. Edit: this is getting way off topic though, so i'm bowing out. Super pleased to have Dijon on board
My point is who cares? If you’re arguing that Hill is better than trevez therefore we don’t need to acquire more talent, you’re all wrong. Because the reason people were grouped together was to show the unit as a whole isn’t living up to the DBU standard
