not sure how I feel about guys in the trenches moving up a class. Unless they are already a year older. If not, gaining weight, strength, etc may take an extra year beyond what an o linemen or d linemen may need to contribute.
exactly. Can’t recall anyone except Ewers recently that skipped their senior year and turned out to be great. That senior year in HS in CRITICAL
Kamar Wilcoxson corns/safety) reclassified before coming to UF. Didn’t pan out but not a huge sample size of 1. Ewers also redshirted and transferred too.
nah you mean Kamar Wilcoxson. Yea he didn’t pan out at UF and damn sure not doing anything at Temple now either. Diwun Black actually having a solid season for Temple https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4693741/kamar-wilcoxson https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4875185/diwun-black
you are correct. That is who I meant. Another interesting thing about him…he was gonna be our first IMG recruit except he transferred to IMG and then reclassified and never played at img. Double loss for us. Lol
Lol I remember when he was first committed to UF, then decommitted and flipped to Tennessee and the fan base was on his HEAAAAD. Then he flipped back and loved him, because like you said, he was gonna be our first IMG player but never played there. oddly, I remember that year they got our former commit Morven Joesph (DE outta Lakeland) and he did nothing now at FAU doing nothing along. They also got Dee Beckwith. Remember we wanted him at TE but he was insisting on being a 6’5 running back and ended up at Tennessee and hasn’t done anything since transferring to Kentucky
I think this is why so many coaches fall in love with the portal, because they think they can find the ones that don't rely on athleticism alone and know how to play football and learn the playbook, but to some degree it is just covering up really poor identification of talent or not being able to get the commits from the good ones. I am all on board with CBN's identification of talent after seeing Harris, Kelby, EW3, Jean, Thornton, Webb, Searcy, Castell, Jackson, James. That is crazy the amount of talent that could contribute immediately to a 5-2 team with a winning record in the SEC. Don't get me wrong, I love some Mertz and Pearsal and Jackson as well.
They lost out on LJ, but got a JR to flip & reclassified as they had "no room" for LJ. I'm dying laughing! So Mid Mike lost their "lock", then BEGGED a high school junior kid to save their day! He'll be portal diving hard again. lmao
Texas football recruiting: Five-star WR Ryan Wingo commits, becoming top-ranked pledge in Longhorns 2024 class
Texas is grabbing a lot of 5*. Wasn't Wingo supposed to pick Missouri? Kinda glad he didn't go there.
That would have been a smart wish if there were still divisions next year and we played Mizzou every year. Now we have as much chance of playing the T-sips as we do Mizzou.
I say Mizzou as he'd probably start day #1 and they're a permanent opponent. Well wait, didn't the sec go to "pods"?
