UT finally doing what I suggested midway through the first half. Press, drive and draw fouls. Threes will come, just have to make some.
I don't see it. Seven teams in the Sweet 16, 4 teams in the elite eight. The SEC finished the season with their top two teams ranked behind Duke and Houston. If Auburn wins tonight, than we were exactly rated, not overrated, in that the top two teams in the SEC will be in the Final Four with #1 Duke and #2 Houston, right where they should be. Our number 3 and 4 teams, UT and Alabama, made it to the elite eight. Seems like a good showing to me. I guess you could say they should have been more competitive, but Duke and Houston are really good and if you are missing nearly all of your 3s, you're going to get cooked no matter who you are.
Meh, losing to the top seeds doesn’t make the SEC over rated. Many really good team as evidenced by how many made it to the S16. Plus Ole miss losing on a late shot as well as Arky doing the same. Bama pretty much crapped the bed because they were so cold behind the stripe. UT making a run right now. Auburn will take care of business.
So I look up stats for this game Houston with 15 total fouls to Tennessee with only 5?? Tennessee with 17 FT attempt s to only 2 for Houston?? Wow
Bill Simmons does a bit on his podcast "Overrated, Underrated, or Properly Rated?". Like you I'd say the SEC was Properly Rated (and I'd say that regardless of the Auburn result this afternoon).
Personally, I am in conflict. I want(ed) to believe that the last top 2 seeds would eventually show the world why the SEC was THE conference this year, if not history. But I also wanted to make sure we did not have too many teams who were both wanting to win the NC while wanting revenge for our overall superior position to them. IMO, Tennessee is as brain farting as UGa. If they somehow win this game, they did NOT win it, Houston brain farted even more. Methinks Barnes is NOT a FF - or even close to being a NC - caliber coach. What a cluster of a team who is playing for an elite position.
