This was a hard one to predict. Mike White did his usual thing of barely making it into the Dance but then would win a game. On the other hand Gonzaga's metrics are WAY better than an 8-9 seed. Metrics win.
This isn't even metrics or Mike White being Mike White This is just a very, very simple case of red hot team meets absolutely ice cold team. Gonzaga can't miss and Georgia can't buy a bucket even with wide open looks.
Just enjoy it. Thank MW for going to UGLY. Thank TG for taking a chance with us as MW really had us in a perpetual state of mediocrity.
UGAs is on a run! The fighting Mike Whites are only down 30-10 now! And I would add, his team playing like crap against Gonzaga was the MOST predictable thing of this Tournament.
The lowest-scoring first half in tournament history in the shot-clock era finished with a combined 33 points, when Indiana scored 13 and UCLA scored 20 in the first half of their 2007 tournament meeting; Missouri State (21) and Wisconsin (12) who also finished with 33 points in 1999.
Sounds about right for a Ben Howland coached UCLA team. That guy couldn’t coach offense if his life depended on it.
A quick Google search shows Michigan scored 16 in the first half against Texas Tech in 2019 and CBS noted it was a record low for a first half tourney game. That's about all I could find.
Agred, but it may have been a blessing in disguise. Been on a nice role since that game. If Florida comes back & wins that game, it may have sent them the wrong message. After that game, the team knows they better bring it for 40 minutes or any hot team can beat them.
