There was a really bad foul call at the end that cost TX. Xav threw the ball away, but a foul was called on TX for a shove in the back. It was the kind of play that never gets called and didn't prevent the catch.

That was the opener I most expected the SEC to lose. It was almost a home game for Xavier. A one-hour drive.

I dunno. We will suffer the same calls maybe? I thought SEC refs were never calling walks/travel and double dribbles all season. Can cut both ways I suppose. One of the things I’ve been nervous of is different accountability throwing off rhythm and frustration. The calls and non calls were fine for me in the SEC but seemed different.

Bracketed story mode for Gators… Dick Vitale picks…

Dickie V has us in the championship game by way of “Gators in a blowout” against Norfolk and then in a “classic game vs Uconn” then vs Colorodo State in the Sweet 16 “Gators D gets to the Rams in the second half causing turnover to Dunks in transition” and then his FF as

Gators vs Michigan State where we “are scorching from the arc and punch our ticket to the championship” and Duke playing Houston and the “Cougars bring toughness but end falling short of the Blue Devils firepower. Their talent is too much and in the end punch their ticket”

Championship Game “Florida Gators vs Duke Blue Devils”

“Two heavyweights collide for a game for the ages. The Gators battle but Duke’s size and speed put them over the top. Duke is cutting down the nets baby!”
    Duke wins.

All his words possibly slightly paraphrased. Not really many surprise picks but I think too predictable to hold true to form. I don’t think he picked much that is out of line but how often does that happen?

I’ve honestly not watched a single Duke game but from what I hear they are the real deal. I’d certainly love to make it to the championship and I still think we can have a chance against any team.

The good news is we are sooooooo deep, we can absorb some fouls while we adjust. As long as both teams are getting a somewhat equal amount of calls and we hit our freebies when they put us at the line, we should be ok.

I sure hope we don’t have another 50 foul game though. It just takes the rhythm out of the game. More than a foul per minute is kind of insane.

I agree on the depth aspect, but I still hope to avoid a crew that punishes / limits physical play.

The more they "let em play" the better for us, IMO

I am not sure if this finals winner pick (Duke) by dickie V is from this season, last season, 2022, or anytime from 1990-2021.

There sure seems like several teams getting home court advantages...I guess in the long run it is about selling tickets

Louisville went 0-3 against SEC this year and played well in the ACC, they likely to be a big phony

Agree, they are pretty basic team, nothing special about how they play.
