Lagway on recruiting “Oh yeah, I’m definitely going to be involved with the transfer portal and recruiting classes, but the biggest thing is just trying to keep the guys that we have here. That’s the biggest thing is just making sure everybody’s locked in so we can add and build on to what we’re having, this momentum to the end of the season.” Is there some excitement among the returners? “Most definitely. There’s a lot of guys that could possibly get out and go to the league this year that are actually thinking about coming back next year and making a run. And that means a lot because you got to have guys behind you. “You see this week, like you see this game I didn’t play my best game, but you got guys like Montrell Johnson running the ball making plays, the defense making a heck of a plays getting us on the field. So you got to have the guys around you. What do you say to recruits who ask why they should be a Gator? “I just say the big plays, especially a receiver. You’re going to get the ball. We’re going to push the ball down the field. You know you’re going to make some big plays. You’re going to have fun doing it.”
I don't know how many more declare for UF but I'm thinking the Gators pick up as least two more before ESD. ............... Depending on the two, could vault UF into the top 10.
This is the recruiter I’ve been waiting to see from Billy! Don’t think anyone has ever shot up the recruiting rankings that hight that fast. Top 10 boys! More to come!
2025 Class Its amazing how this whole thing got turned around so quick. But....what amazes me even more is how balanced this class has become, filling up almost every need at ever position, compared to where we were. I look over the projected depth chart and what we have coming in and I see meets or exceeded expectations across the board. In short.... QB - backup QB added RB - added quality depth WR - high quality talent with more to come and back filled players TE - added depth OL - improving talent and more to come DL - potential to be our deepest signees with biggest impact next year LB - again adding quality depth DB - high quality players in a much needed area K/P - even covered both positions So again, the coaches have done an incredible job getting an incredible class in three short weeks. It just goes to show, all that work over the last year is starting to payoff, in more ways than one. I can't wait until Wednesday.
I'm fading on Soloman a bit, (talk of not making a decision until AFTER ESD). I kinda think UF's best chance to grab a 5 star to close the cycle rests right here with Jamie.
You nailed it Matherly. If we "whiff" from here on out, it's already been nothing short of a miraculous recruiting comeback by the staff. I'm glad UF is building "ground up" and using the Portal to fill holes and for added depth, and not doing an entire roster rebuild like Norvell has to do via the portal or like Sanders does at Colorado.
FWIW, I read on Tiger Droppings this morning that they'd been used - they'd upped their bag and we'd matched it.
I’m meh on Thomas. If our NIL package isn’t enough for him and that’s the holdup, then I am ok with him moving on elsewhere. He isn’t going to make or break our team. The culture of our locker room appears to be team first and work with grit. I’m not sure that a “well if you pay me enough” is the mentality we need on the squad. We have solid OL commitments and solid returning players. If he thinks the Holes will develop him for the league, then he should probably rewatch the game. 14 TFLs and 8 sacks is what they developed of the guys in the system. If he thinks the kitties in Red Stick will develop him, I say to that 7 sacks. Get paid in college, or get paid better on Sundays, it’s his choice.
Me as well on Thomas. I don't follow NIL amounts but my guess is we could probably get an equal or better OL in the portal for less than half whatever Thomas is demanding. Plus it would give us more money to offer Ffrench and/or Wilson.
He had plenty of chances to commit but didn’t do it, almost like he is waiting for FSU to hire an OL coach.
