We have a couple of those, and they keep us competitive. I just don’t think they are interested in the arms race of paying teenagers. I truly appreciate what those top 4-5 families do in terms of providing for the program and certainly won’t begrudge them not giving more as others on here do at times.

Yep, i don't begrudge them either. I wish they dropped more but I understand why. Im not taking groceries off my table to feed these kids. 90k tickets and a tv deal should be able to carry that part like any other sport.

We also have a very mobile fan base. While schools like UT, Tex, and OSU tend to keep grads close, our fan base has a proclivity to spread across the country. Yet we still pack the stadium on Saturdays. I’m with Wanne though. When I get ready to drop thousands, it usually has little to do with UF. I came down from ATL for two games this season.

I wonder about boosters who choose to support a business that takes in hundereds of millions and refuses to pay their own payroll. Its a really weird business model. Why is this put on tge boosters in the first place.

Agreed. I would spread that to any business that doesn’t pay its payroll. The simple reasoning though is that until very recently, it wasn’t seen as an employee/employer relationship. It was a bartering arrangement of an education and professional development for athletic participation. Without boosters the whole system would collapse as a large chunk of the revenue stream is donation. If revenue sharing could become the dominant source of player pay, it would significantly level the playing field. However NIL will never be market value for actual NIL as pay for play will continue. If the schools are to carry the load as employers, the whole underground payment system will rear its head once again. At this point I just want a salary cap and to make the contracts enforced (see Whisky to UM kid who skipped the portal). The more public the contracts and money exchanged becomes transparent, the better for the sport as a whole. It’s too Wild West right now.

I assume you mean paying recruits before NIL.....and yes UF wasn't as blatant as some, but rest assured UF had it's moments too

    Amen
I always ask someone complaining.....if you had $500k to spend on UF football where would it go? Fabulous seats/tickets for your family and friends along with great parking for tailgating, maybe a naming opportunity for UF facilities that will recognize you forever, or just give it all to a kid like Trevor Etienne for one season. I think we know the answer for most people

You listed 4 guys who were lucky to get a snap half way through the season and another whose snaps decreased and was not surprised would leave. We were bloated at Edge/OLB, and this solved it.

If Lyons is healthy he's played a lot of snaps. Boireau got sophomore level of snaps last year, so should be ready to go.
Boireau and Robinson had higher tackle rates than Watson for obvious reasons and should be very good this year.

Taylor still is essentially like moving Sapp to DT and will likely remain cover. Brown is the wildcard. Hoping Lyons will be back to preseason level. He was likely going to be a really good one.

No way around we are going to miss Jackson.
He is what Banks was a year ago, great frame that's raw and needs to find out what high level ball is.

Id rather sit with the regular folks on the 50 and have no desire to have my name on anything. Im not sure id not just get a better boat for 500k. Rather have a Viking but 509k wont get a viking dingy.

If it had to go to football, I would want it to go directly to educational support. Too many kids end up out of the league and without a degree because they were blinded by the dream. My seats would not change. Chair back in the top of the North Endzone. I love the breeze and being able to watch the plays develop. I’ve never enjoyed being in the suites, it makes me feel disconnected from the experience.

500K might not get you a Viking but just a reminder you have options here in the state of Florida. I am not a fan of any NFL team, nor am I even a fan of the NFL. It might not be a Viking but I hear they are looking to make a few good deals down in Tampa.
