2025 Class

Inconceivable

 

I keep asking someone to identify a person on this board that has called our class "elite". We are all arguing / debating over a non-thing, IMO.

While the class was much better than predicted (before closing out with 3 wins), we are still a solid average in the SEC. We need a really, really, good portal season , as we are still in make up/ catch up mode.
Definitely ended more optimistic, but a lot of work to do.

 

So we spend half the year arguing about how the recruiting rankings are biased and the other half complaining about how our recruits are ranked.

 

Only a 1/4, we spend 1/2 trying to decide on a coach

 

Believe our D could continue to play at a devastating and disruptive level. Were I Napier's boss I would implore(demand) he find an OC.

 

I agree but hoping that DJ is the difference to make us elite. In college if you have a superstar QB it can cover up some issues.

 

That's about the way I see it and I'm not sure how it can be seen any other way.

 

People say silly things all the time around here. FTR, "elite" is in the eye of the beholder and thus a fair subject for endless dispute. I frankly respect your response too (not a craven weasel/troll). I would personally describe our class to date as really good to near excellent and a solid effort that will pay off handsomely on the field. Viewed through the lens of last year's shitshow of a finish, plus our putrid start this season, it was nothing short of stupendous. Incidentally, leading off by taking a slap at Gator fans for being a little giddy over what amounts to a pardon from the governor on the day we expected to be hanged will draw a snarky response every time. Just saying.

 

The class may not be elite but several of the players are.

We are a 5* OT, CB & DT away from being elite.

They’ve done a ton of studies of human nature - interviewing every walk of life from convicted criminals to world leaders. A key learning across the board is that people just aren’t inclined to accept that they’re wrong. Changing people’s minds is always a challenge

 

Virtually none of the young backups who have been balling out for us the 2nd half of this season were 5* recruits out of HS. Many were 3s. This staff has an eye for talent and properly motivated I’ll put them up against anybody else’s recruits. Screw the recruiting services - they don’t know jack.

I've gotten a lot of pushback for saying we're not elite so look at those people.

USA Today recruiting had four “Winners”. We were one. LSU and Arkansas were two of four losers.

From a national perspective, we look pretty much upswing.
