Agree. The point I was addressing was not whether we have top 5 or 15 classes. I was addressing the notion of whether UF pays top 10 in nil, which I believe most folks who have analyzed this agree that we do. https://247sports.com/longformartic...rams-ranked-by-nil-efforts-235181311/#2472518 Class rating is correlated with nil funds but there is not 1/1 causation. And championship are not 1/1 related to class ratings. Coaching, recruiting talent, facilities, geography, school, etc all play some role. My point was UF has top level (top5ish from what I understand) nil $, and w/ our other advantages that should be enough to compete for titles. Given that we are spending top nil money, if we are not getting top classes or top on field results, other factors must be at play.
I don’t believe our NIL operation was very effective till the last year or so. So I think that put us somewhat behind the 8 ball. As long as we can continue to move in the right direction we should be competitive. Next year should be a jump forward. If we aren’t in the mix in Lagway’s junior year there is an issue. I don’t think NIL can be an excuse by then. We might not be the top NIL school, but we are competitive and in the top tier schools
I'm not arguing the benefit of getting 4 and 5 stars. I pointed out a 4 star and you said "oh yeah, he just got a 4 star by .58pts insinuating that he's basically still a 3 star. I'm saying if that .58 of a point determines his skill level than these rating are dumb because there is no way to differentiate the production level of someone who came in even a pint under or over this guy's rating. Shit even some one rated 2 whole points higher or lower. I mean doesn't it just come down to the eye test and results of their play? Jaden Baugh was a 3 star, ETN was a 3 star, I mean hell pearsall was a 3 star and the 1250th overall player in country.
I’m not dismissing him at all. I think he has a shot to be a really good player. He definitely has good size and I like his film. I just think we need to land more top rated receivers.
Wow this recruiting turnaround is impressive. See what can happen when we have a thread about positivity and keeping the negative Nellie’s away can make a difference. That of course and winning last two games and having the hottest qb in the country.
I'm curious if the recent flips/commits are because we increased our NIL spending. Do our insiders know if we increased the budget? @apkgator @candymanfromgc @bobbybaker86 Any chance we get a pre-ESD Candy Gram? A breakdown of the scholarship limits, primary HS targets, portal transfers and possible defections would be welcomed.
My understanding was there was commitment for some key portal guys. I think this surge is just Napier and momentum
I thought "chatter" meant Twitter garbage. If it's fact then call it that. If it's high level people or published reports then name them and/or link them please.
Sometimes it is internet chatter, I should have said the chatter is high level and not internet rumors level stuff.
Reports from those with sources have signalled some reallocation of funds to NIL for weeks, presumed for transfer portal, but we can't discount it could be for high school also. Other things helping high school recruiting are stability, post-CBN retention NIL release of funds, players showing intent to stay, potential for upgrades in portal with new funds, defensive turnaround, better outlook next year, true freshmen playing everywhere to end the season and playing well, and Lagway effect. Perfect storm really to flip guys who wanted in here but for reservations that are now resolved.
