If I were him I would be saying that about Miami, Oregon, Ohio State, and ATm too with my bit coin wallet open.
So far we are -1 in commits for the 24 class as second big recruiting weekend nears an end. Kinda disappointing. Some of these dudes may commit at a later date to UF but in a what have you done for me lately world, hard to not to be negative at this point in June.
Well spike, you and I both know it’s not for lack of effort on the part of our staff. Right? They knocked themselves out last weekend and got rave reviews and zero commits. Do you think this could possibly be related to the fact that UF is coming off consecutive losing seasons after 10 years of mediocrity and 3 failed head coaches, while the team we just lost Bowens to is coming off consecutive national championships? Napier is not to blame for what he inherited, or for the truth that it’s way easier to recruit after back to back NCs than to sell a rebuild. Much as we hate it, this is going to take time. Improvement in recruiting and in performance on the field is all we should be expecting this year. There’s no quick and sustainable way to throw together a 3-deep out of damn near nothing —especially after going 12-14 over the past two seasons.
i agree. But doesn’t make me feel better. There are all kinds of reasons and excuses but in the end results do matter.
Sure man, but it’s totally impractical to expect the kind of results we wish for right now. I’m as frustrated as you are but can’t get down on Napier for the 10 years before him that created the situation he walked into
Again folks have to understand, this is the unfortunate part about recruiting against the big dogs when you aren't a big dog (at the moment). Bowens flip hurts because we identified him way before anyone else did and prioritized him and UGA comes and just snatches him AND gets him to shut it down. TJ Moore committing to Clemson doesn't hurt to me because I think he wanted Clemson all along and was waiting for them to give him the green light.
There’s another thing I wonder Bobby. It would seem more likely that Bowens would decommit from us first, if he was beginning to lose enthusiasm for UF and wanted to explore other options like UGa — then a week or a visit later declares his commitment elsewhere. But the hasty flip from us to them doesn’t seem as credible, and maybe vulnerable to change during the next 6 months. It’s like the person who has like 3 or 4 failed marriages — why keep committing instead of just taking a step back and playing it smarter? Does this haste to commit immediately upon de-committing suggest an uneasiness about not being committed somewhere? Does it maybe suggest that his commitment to UF wasn’t as legit as we all thought — that it was more of a security blanket while he continued looking around? If so, maybe we shouldn’t stop recruiting him — stay on him instead of running him off as has been suggested here (and to which I earlier agreed)
Bowels bothers me the most because he went to our rival. Shithead. We can find someone to run the ball. We already are stacked at rb. If it were a primo left tackle or Lagway, it would be a big blow. Let’s hope for that tackle.
Kirby does vindictive things in recruiting (particularly to UF), which kids will go along with to be on a championship team. I expect the door will always be open for Bowens.
Kirby is a real douch but it does make us look second rate. I hope Napier can get it together and whoop his ass.
I'm going to get some flack for this....because idk why i'm feeling this way, but i'm getting this odd feeling about us being able to hold onto Lagway. Only saving grace is that the only ones, who are big boys, that don't have a 2024 QB are Clemson and USCw which were the two schools pushing for him hard (and from what I hear, still are kicking the tires on him)
We have to keep him at all costs. Stricklin and Napier need him. No one recruit is ever that import but he kind of is. He seems locked in though.
yea i am probably being overly dramatic but if we lose Lagway, Napier might not make it long term. That’s how important i feel Lagway is
If you’re able to get it, read the front page article in today’s Atlanta Journal/Constitution about the “reckless culture” at uga. I will continue to support our Head Coach and our University in not subordinating values to winning.
That is why I want Simmons in 23. He could be leading the improved roster in 24 and 25 to important wins.
