Driskel came from a new high-school program if I recall. Their offense consisted of him running out of the pocket and making sandlot plays. There was very little structure or fundamental quartebacking going on but he was a phenomenal athlete and it should have been expected he would need considerable development. Instead he was forced into playing as a true freshman. It didn't help him that we went away from the spread.

Frank's was another "raw" qb with all of the physical tools. Not exactly what we needed having struggled so mightily on offense and in need of a dramatic improvement given how much the offenses had been wasting years of excellent defenses.

Now here we are again with another project and few if any viable backups to spell him through rough patches.

It's been a long 10 plus years as a Gator fan.

And I think brown/Stokes are of the same cloth. QBs like Lagway need to be the future if we are gonna truly be consistent contenders. I used Bryce as an example because his ability to come in and make every throw ALONG with good decision making as a RS FR is truly astonishing.

Lagway is a really, really good start

I have no problems with more Trasks but please give him a little more speed.

I want someone who can read a defense pre snap.

As long as he has what Trask had, he could be one legged for all I care. Too much priority on running and passing is the gig.

I have never seen a UF QB with the touch that Trask had.

I love your avatar Doc but you're wrong on this one. I've never seen anybody drop fade passes into receivers' hands in the corner of the end zone like Danny did.

You mean like wheel routes? Same concept. Trask did it all.

As another poster said it’s splitting hairs though

Taking nothing away from Trask, but Wuerfel, Spurrier and Grossman didn't exactly stink it up touch-wise either.

    To your excellent point:
    Thru Game 7 - Pass Att. 115, Com. 166, Yds. 1874, Com.% .693, Avg. YPC 16.3, YPG 267.7, TD 22, INT 5, QBR 133.9 / Rushing stats - Att. 35, Yds. 441, YPC 12.6, YPG 63.0, RTD 7
    Total Off - 2,315, AYPG 330.7
And it's worth remembering that Texas HS FB is among the best in the country so all this wasn't done against the little sisters of the poor.

I didn't mean to imply that you did. But I'd personally take all three over Trask. And FTR, I loved Trask.

One that made it onto an NFL team too? That's what separates Danny from Trask? If Trask had Danny's defense he would have won a National Championship too. Yes indeed... splitting hairs.
