Watched some film. If really close to 6'3 225 he's a stud. Hope we get him. But that's next cycle and he's not likely to start as a true FR, so he's two seasons from now to begin to reach his protential. :)

For a guy completing just 53% of his passes coming into this season, he’s progressing well.

Would love if he could re-classify to 2023.

Would definitely love for him to reclassify to 2023, but more importantly want him to reclassify to the Gators!

Don't believe it. We are told in these forums that completion percentages don't change. A bad season is who that QB is: a bad, inaccurate passer.

Yea I’m up in the air about that. I know these high schoolers are so young and have much physical growth left…so I think Lagway will be fine. The issue is the jump from high school to college and the predictability of completion percentage. I’m still hopeful AR can get it together, but there are guys like Shane that thinks AR will never be a good passer.

That statistic (completion percentage) encompasses so many variables that makes it harder to get the right QB for College. But it does help if we recruit accurate QBs out of high school.

Pretty sure the point was made that a QBs HS career *Average* percentage for a multi year player will usually end up being within 2-3% of their college career average and that fans expectations of a 10% jump in completion percent averages across multiple years between the two levels is an unreasonable expectation/outlier.

There are outliers though and depending on the hs and talent they are surrounded with, it’s sometimes easier to see why it happens. Looking at numbers on a piece of paper isn’t the same thing as really watching a kid play to see his true potential. Watching Trask play in his last bowl game wouldn’t be an honest evaluation of his potential.

Honestly, that 53% doesn't alarm me too much considering he was just a soph. I agree though that the stats he's put up recently are impressive and encouraging. Bottom line for me is if BN wants him, I want him too.

I think that could be a good guide from year to year within college, but high schoolers' ability to consistently catch, catch contested balls and catch errant thrown balls is wildly different from college receivers. So the comparison is apples to oranges as it applies to QB.

He’s a baller. Would be a huge get and will get us right back into the Top 5 in recruiting and competing with the big boys again.

It must just be me . . . but Shane seems to really be "off" with what he chooses to say and when sometimes.

    Like he's mad about something.

Shane was not that athletic, but threw the ball well and that’s what made him successful under Spurs and in the league. I think that’s why he values passing as a QB over these athletes playing QB. That and the fact that his son didn’t get a look at QB because of his size is what gives him a chip on his shoulders. AR will have to prove to him that he can develop as a passer like Cam for him to be impressed.

I think AR is a great passer, probably what Shane is alluding to with AR is his inability to make the right decisions when it comes to where the ball needs to go. No one can argue AR isn't a great athlete, has all the physical make up to be an outstanding QB, but can he start showing progress with each start that the game is slowing down for him? He’s not there yet, but I'm hopeful.

That’s the thing. We all feel AR is so raw and will need to be developed. Shane’s point is he’s never seen it happen at this level as it may be too late to learn to be a good passer. The hope is he can be an effective passer and uses his athletic ability to be the difference maker.

Cam still couldn’t be successful without his legs like many qbs today. I’d rather have passing be by far the number one attribute to a qb. If they can run, that’s just icing .

Cam couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn while at UF. The JUCO route helped him a lot in his development and in gaining confidence. I’ll take that kinda development with AR at this point of course.

I like Shane and I think he's a great gator. But sometimes he seems to slam the door shut to the athletic type QBs. He threw lots of ducks when he was at UF.
I'm still upset about the pick 6 he threw to Langham in the first SECCG. UF would have won the SEC titles 7 years in a row if it wasn't for the pick. (Just kidding here. I wasn't upset at all :))
