One thing is for sure... the teams that were very sneaky good at cheating (maybe by buying players straight out of high school) are the teams that switched to the new NIL college football game quite easily and never really missed a beat on the recruiting trail. For those that say we were cheating before the NIL I say, prove it! The Gator's were riding scooters instead of driving band new cars prove my point. UGA, Bama, Clemson, OSU, FSU and others... Notice how well and quickly they adapted to the NIL... However, for Napier and our football program it's been a learning curve. Napier is catching on but he needs more time. He knows that some of his current coaches were NOT his first choice position coaches (some of you should still remember that) and I believe he will act accordingly in the "talking" season.
True. I just mean on the field glaring problems and press conference coachspeak. But everything else about him is much better than the M boys.
I agree with that process . I believe in Napier . I wanna have him as our coach for a long time. but have you seen the 24 schedule? It’s nuts . Yet we will have fans that will crucify him
Crucify him for losses to better teams? No. (See this year's reaction to the Georgia game.) Crucify him if the team is weakened by injuries? Nope. Crucify him for more losses due to stupid crap like "they did something we didn't expect" (vs KY) or "a player thought he heard the word to lead the FG team onto the field" (especially if such crap is still happening late in season)? Absolutely yes, and rightfully so.
He didn’t look like he was catching on Saturday when he blew a hole in the side of his own ship but that will fix itself with time, he’s only been coaching or playing football for thirty or so years now.
There’s also smart money which doesn’t topple the delicate balance of team chemistry. Brave is great, but without a measure of caution it can get you killed
If you follow recruiting, you will see that this class seems to be dialed in to bringing back Gator Football with their comments on social media. This group coming in is a different class than the last 10 years with a legit 5 Star QB and 5 Star DL, LB and Safety (all 3 levels)! Remember 2006 class - Tebow & Spikes = Lagway & Graham - alpha leaders on both sides of the ball.
Yes - here are my thoughts. We will have Mertz with sprinkling in Lagway (Leak/Tebow) and more continuity. Miami at home - W, Samford - W, UCF new QB (not UCF team of old) - W, Georgia - L (not ready), FSU new QB - W, KY new QB @ home - W, LSU new QB @ home - W, Ole Miss @ home - W, Texas A&M toss up game but @ home - W, Miss. State tough one w/Will Rogers on the rd - L, TN on the road w/new QB - W, Texas on the rd - L. Puts us at 9-3 and we will be facing 5 teams with a new QB, 7 games at home and 1 neutral site. Only 4 road games. Tough schedule on paper, but we will have a 5th yr Sr. QB who will be in his 2nd year of the offense with tons of talent around him with a much more seasoned and improved D.
