Yeah Bol seems cool, and her race was surprising. She had this to say about it: "I screwed it up," Bol said. "I'm not sure where I made the mistake. I just got so much lactic acid with 300 meters to go. I'm not sure why; I really have no explanation. This is just a bad race."
I watched a replay of Femke in the mixed relay, she ran the final leg. It was an amazing run by her, great to see.
No rules violated as there really aren't any. Olympic Athletes Allowed to Compete while COVID-Positive | Scientific American.
No issue with him running....but being in the confined pre race area and potentially infecting other athletes and officials seems pretty irresponsible
16? Teenage sprinting sensation Quincy Wilson became the youngest ever US male track Olympian when he took part in the 4x400-meter relay on Friday. Wilson, just 16 years old, ran the first leg for Team USA as the American quartet moved on to the final with a time of 2:59.15. The US finished third behind Botswana and Team GB to make it through to the final on Saturday.
Women take gold in 4x100, with a comical glance from Richarson as she checks the competition before crossing the line.
The men botched a hand off exchange in the 4x100 and were DQed. I believe they said this was the 5th time in a row the men have lost/been DQed over a bad handoff in the Olymipics. Edit, the 2012 DQ was for a positive doping test, they had good hand offs and finished 2nd.
Unbelievable. I can’t rag on them because because I’m sure they feel horrible. But how can we be so snakebit?
Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, winner of 200 m: “I think, for me, I can’t be the face of athletics because I’m not arrogant or a loud person like Noah …” Ouch!
The dude that apparently levitated himself and his board off a wave was the best, though. How does he practice that, what with how variable waves can be!
Think she knew she wasn’t gonna get a podium so she got herself a shot leading with less than 1000 meters left. Her move kicked the whole thing off too. 11th, other Americans were 8/9. Not bad considering the dominance by Kenya/Ethiopia and Hassan. And Battocletti made it real at the end.
Enough basketball talk. What about the important things…like fact that the women divers and synchronized swimmers and water polo teams no longer take part in the long-standing tradition of a quick tug on the bottom of their swimsuits immediately upon getting out of the water. Don’t we all miss that tradition?
