So a deeper pool will be a faster pool?

yes, less downforce reflects back up to surface and you get less chop on the surface to slow the swimmers down. chop is also much bigger factor in shorter races so more so on a 100 than a 400

Ok ya it wasn't that Phelps worked harder than anyone else... it was just all genetic lottery. I strongly disagree with that.

You can keep saying this is not about protecting women but it's simply not true. This boxer is not a normal woman. I get that this is not as easy as someone who transitioned and complained about it being a dude vs woman. We still have someone with XY chromosome makeup who has a massive advantage over women with normal genetics. I don't speak Italian but a translation I saw post-fight is she has never been hit that hard before.

Yeah, but I could work twice as hard as Phelps and he'd still smoke me in a race. First you have to hit the genetic lottery, then you have to work for it.

Fun fact: Phelps and I have 23 Olympic gold medals between us. :p

Nothing finer than Barry beating China.
Another 14 points he scores out of 21.
The 3X3 team is on a roll now.

My 5 year old keeps me busy. My training these days is chasing him around the house.

    Can you share that?

here is her complete boxing record.
    https://boxrec.com/en/box-am/885533?offset=0

She is actually a decent boxer.
I don’t see any other fight she withdrew in the first round like that.

Nobody said it's all genetic lottery. You don't think this boxer has worked and trained hard to make it to where she is? But Phelps's genetics are what made him the best at what he did. They're what make LeBron a top two basketball player of all time. Did he work hard for it? Absolutely. But being a once-in-a-lifetime athlete is what set him apart from the other great players.

The boxer's advantage is natural. She is a biological woman. There's no argument for discriminating against her. Yet, here we are. And these sort of attacks haven't been limited to her. People have attacked some of the U.S.'s elite female athletes for looking too masculine. It's bullshit---a byproduct of the hatred directed at transgender people.

You may want to click on the following link
Olympic boxer Angela Carini apologies to Imane Khelif and as I stated in the other thread why didn't anyone complain about Khelif's XY chromosome advantage when she was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics or was defeated by Amy Broadhurst in the 2023 World Championship?

    One more point:
In 2023, IBA president Umar Kremlev told Russian news agency TASS that the disqualifications were because DNA tests "proved they had XY chromosomes".[22][23] The Washington Post stated, "It remains unclear what standards Khelif and Lin Yu Ting failed [in 2023] to lead to the disqualifications,"[23][24] further writing, "There never has been evidence that [...] Khelif [...] had XY chromosomes or elevated levels of testosterone".[23] The IBA did not reveal the testing methodology, stating the "specifics remain confidential."[25] At the time, Khelif said the ruling meant having "characteristics that mean I can't box with women", but said she was the victim of a "big conspiracy" with this disqualification.[26] She initially appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport but later withdrew.[4]
It's even been suggested the Kremlev disqualified Khelif because she defeated a Russian boxer.

Didn’t say she withdrew in the first round. She had a fight stopped due to injury. Some folks thought she was faking it. That’s what I had read. Who knows for sure?

Regardless, the woman from Algeria is a woman with all of the requisite parts. See, the “there’s just two genders” isn’t quite accurate, is it?

The arena English announcer in the mixed archery has been a scream. Rather than dryly announcing the shooters and the score, he’s been giving a running commentary on what’s going on.

Don’t know if the French lady is saying the same thing as him or if she’s more straightforward.

Also, I’m surprised how much arc they have to put on the arrows at that short distance. Perhaps that’s why I always miss deer bow hunting. :D

you said the same thing. Leaving a fight due to injury in the 2nd or third round is way different than leaving just 40 seconds in the first. Again she also said she has never been hit that hard and this is someone who has fought 106 women before the Olympic fight.

I said she’s quit like this before, I didn’t specify first round. You’re trying to justify thinking that this woman has some sort of illegal advantage. She doesn’t.

FYI, I don’t understand why anyone would let someone hit them in the face voluntarily

NBC had their human interest short about the Montmartre area of Paris. The woman introducing it referred to “going café to Cabaret.” I wonder if she was intentionally quoting Joni Mitchell’s Free Man in Paris.

When you say illegal, apparently you are right. What I’m arguing is that if she does have XY chromosome, she has a rather large advantage over 99.9% of all women that needs to be addressed.

Also, I agree with you. No idea why anyone would want to do it for a living lol.
