Street sales no longer occur. At least I haven't seen any since pre covid. That used to be the only way to buy tickets in my book. Wait until the game is about to start or has just started and bam, you've got the whole family in for $20 as the guy is just liquidating everything at that point.

Street sales still occur. There were scalpers damn near lined up in a square all the way around the perimeter of the area they’re not allowed to be in last year. I got up at six am to go sit at the stadium to buy standing room only tix one morning, but found some seats on FB right as the ticket office opened.

As I post this, yes gatorranger7, I know it isn't dispositive, but it is another indication like the head-to head records against the CWS field on what might happen in the ACC/SEC Challenge.

The current odds to win and a predicted champion:

    Florida State +850
    Virginia +900
    NC State +1200

    Florida +1400

    College World Series prediction 2024

It would be easy to pick the Volunteers to win the whole thing. That lineup has no quit in it, and the pitching boasts a robust 3.83 ERA, the lowest of any team left in the field.

But in case you haven't heard, No. 1 seeds have something of a curse on their hands. The No. 1 seed hasn't even reached the College World Series finals since 2009, and since national seeding started in 1999, the No. 1 seed has won it all once: 1999.

Tennessee will continue the trend of No. 1 seeds to struggle, falling in its bracket to North Carolina.

In the other bracket, Texas A&M remains the favorite despite Montgomery's injury. Florida and NC State both have collective ERAs in the 6.00s, while Kentucky lacks the type of home-run power typically needed to survive in Omaha. The Aggies still have LaViolette in the middle of the lineup along with several other boppers and, much like the Tar Heels, they boast a stellar bullpen that should help them secure wins late in games.

A College World Series final between North Carolina and Texas A&M should provide plenty of fireworks and some late-game dramatics between two stellar bullpens and lineups that each feature stars. But in Game 3, Honeycutt makes one more statement with a later homer as a Tar Heel to end his collegiate career with a title and give another boost to his draft stock.

No, I do not agree with this scenario with North Carolina winning the 2024 national championship.

North Carolina barely ousted LSU in their regional. Texas A&M lost 2 of 3 in Gainesville and in game 2 vs. Oregon the Beavers pitching imploded with numerous walks giving up a big lead. I don't see either team in the championship series final.

My prediction is winner of the Friday night UT vs. FSU game advances to the championship series, hoping for UT. Joining the Friday night winner will be our underdog Gators playing their best baseball of the season playing loose and just having fun. This sets up the 1 overall seed vs. an unranked and non-seeded team.

Florida is my upset pick to win the 2024 national championship. These Gators successfully climb the mountain of history throughout the tournament to be ranked side by side with Fresno State 2008 as the two biggest surprise national champions in college baseball history.

    Go Gators!

There were street scalpers last year. They seemed to congregate more over near the souvenir tents but saw them all around the park. I had tickets through UAA for the Gator games and had great luck with Ticketmaster especially if you’re willing to wait until very close to game time to pull the trigger.

So there are still some in the wild huh? Good to know. Your strategy with online purchasing of tickets has become the new go to.

Are team cumulative pitching stats pretty fair when deciding on the top pitching teams or should those numbers be narrowed down to pitchers more likely to throw and throw often? There definitely doesn't seem to be the same quality aces like last year. Is there a team with a true pitching advantage this year or could this tournament be as high scoring as a majority of the supers?

Since this is an SEC/ACC affair, what would the best stadium be if they could move the whole tourney? No, I'm not advocating it should be moved. Just wondering what some opinions are here of other stadiums. That said, if there ever was a good year to move it closer to the teams playing in it, this would be the year.

Atlanta makes sense, Jax or TPA would work better for me, though.

Florida = 1 national championship; Virginia = 1 national championship. Maybe 2 blue bloods.

Think of it as exactly like the basketball tournament. There are 64 teams in the bracket. Given it’s baseball single elimination doesn’t make sense so they basket turn it into 4 mini tournaments (regional, super, cws, championship). But conceptually it’s still a 64 team bracket. Right now we are in the elite 8 playing the 4 teams on our “side” for the right to make the championship.
