I asked roughly the same thing. Trump's economic advisor at the time (Kudlow?) was anti tariff because he knew the damage they would do but he had to go along with trump's half assed agenda on tariffs.

If I have to explain it to you, you are beyond help. Two major parties are running candidates for potus, a pretty important position (keeping up so far?). What each party puts forth as policy positions are also important as voters decide how they are going to vote. What is YOUR understanding of what the GOP platform is or should be?
