Gotta hand it to him - I couldn't stomach watching that live. Much less studying and analyzing and spending 3 hours recording this. I hope the “donos” are paying off.
Another year. Same haircut. I would enjoy these if they weren't so depressing. Can't do it. Won't do it.
TLDW offensive Hesitation kills (mertz late) Poor product placement Formation makes it difficult, poor routes design and bunching Don’t take what they give you (Miami stayed in man coverage a large portion of the game) The even badder part, there were enough missed opportunities for, say, hypothetically, a stubborn delusional soul, to say, SEE! I was right
This very short article tells you all you need to know... First game of the year and we came out predicable as ever because we didn't change (tweak) a thing from last year. Not one thing... Maybe we can add some changes to the top 5 to 7 plays, enough to have both the old routes and the newer different routes in the play book. That would be like having 10 to 14 good plays, which would also confuse them into wondering which plays we might be running... the old plays or something else. That little addition of tweaks to our best 5 to 7 plays would change that whole dynamic to the point of having 14 brand-new plays. It's that simple... Miami admits they easily predicted Florida Football's offense
Wow, I tapped out. Couldn’t even make it through the 1st quarter of the offensive “highlights”, but it’s worth noting many of the critiques James makes are the same ones he’s been making after nearly every game for the last two seasons. Same issues, same strategy, same results. Sigh
James said that the Miami secondary, supposedly the weak spot on their roster, had zero respect for our passing game including Tre Wilson. It was a bit of a shocker to me that possibly the most gifted offensive threat since Percy Harvin was almost completely taken out of the game.
These always surprise me. Even in this session we had a handful of good plays that we really just did not execute. But what really blows my mind is how many passing concepts we run where we basically give the QB 1 option. Like the fake screen to Tre at the top. Why take 2 receivers just completely out of the play? Play calling is not great... but my god I think the passing concepts are really what kills us. No deception, wrinkles, or anything to scheme guys open
I am not convinced Wilson is all that. Maybe compared to everyone else on the team he is though, but on another team he is a 3rd wr.
It’s painful to watch it isolated and broken down like this, just brutal. Take a shot every time you say to yourself, “I’ve seen this before”. smh
