2024 4* LB Aaron Chiles commits to UF

Yep, that is a game changing position for our defense. The lack of depth and talented LBs has been one of the main reasons why our defenses haven't been near the top...

But now that we have the right coach, and the right scheme to go along with the right personnel, we have all the parts to become that top 5 defense in the nation, just like in the past. But we still need 2 or 3 more pieces to the defense to make it complete. Then... we start reloading with even better talent - I can't wait till we're in full on re-load mode... coming soon.

We still have some depth issues, but we're much closer now, with the coaching and recruits, to becoming that great defense once again... like the defenses we had back in 2012 and several years before that - 2008. 2006...

I can't wait to see our new and improved defensive scheme/system - It should be far better than we've had in years.

But I also know that big improvement will come slowly, but our talent level gets better and better along the way. I just hope we keep our DC for many years to come. I believe Austin Armstrong is the right man for the job. No more up and down, roller-coaster riding, in recruiting like we've had with the last 4 or so coaching staffs. AA is a legit DC.

It’ll be interesting how many we take from hs and how many from the portal. We may could use the fourth lb but can we afford the spot .

Same here but I don’t expect results too fast. All these talented guys under Napier are 17-19. When they are 19-22, I think we will see what we are looking for. I think we start to see some of it this year but 24,25,26 should be more revealing of where we are going.

Agree but honestly I'm all about the future.
Hope we don't give CBN the Zook treatment. If he can get the recruits, he deserves a few years to coach em up.

 

Harold Perkins? If any of them come close to his freshman year then that would be fantastic!

This is all good news. Actually, freaking GREAT news. Napier and his team of coaches has really done a great job. I expect more good news. The "D" will be better before these kids even get here.

Anybody remember the Super Sophs?

 

Sometimes it seems like a 26-mile sprint.

 

As said many times BN is building a program one step at a time. He has a vision and is sticking to it. Our part, be patient. This year may not translate into lots of wins but I'm sure we will see improvement on both sides of the ball, especially on defense. Great job BN and fellow coaches.
