I would be ecstatic if they won five of their first six games. I think that’s a lot to hope for based on the preseason.

First time watching them, 0-0 at the half against ECU.
1 shot on goal and that was a lollipop from 20 plus yards out.
Just don’t see the athleticism or skill we were told was brought in. But long season.

Much better second half, some of the backups should be starters
UF scored early in the second half, held on for dear life as ECU had a bunch of chances (including a missed empty net), before UF scored on a PK late.
    2-0 final.
First win since Sep1 last year, so huge to get this win.

they must have made changes because we looked pretty quick and athletic in the 2nd half. Didnt get to watch any of the 1st half..

I really like what I saw out of freshman Megan Hinnenkamp. She looks like a true offensive weapon this team has been missing the last couple of years. Former Missouri Gatorade POY and certainly looks the part.

Yeah, first half wasn’t at all like the second, that’s what I was saying about some of the back ups, many of the ones creating the chances and pushing the pace in the 2nd didn’t play much in the first 45.
the first half had one total shot on goal between the teams, and that came with 2 minutes left. And it wasn’t even a real chance. So go back and watch at your own peril lol.

Yeah, to further my point, it wasn’t until Butts and Bailey came and stretched the field and put pressure going forward that she had chances. They need to play more imo if tonight was representative.

yea, first half was a disaster. i thought it was going to be a long night. nobody to stretch the field, and we didn't get forward as a unit, so we left gaping holes in our midfield. Which we were out numbering them, yet we were outplayed. Very questionable play from numerous players and we were just sitting back, rarely sending numbers forward. There were some balls played that were highly questionable, constantly bad play. I saw some girls that were very heavy footed, bad touches etc.

honestly, i turned off the 2nd half to watch bama and then FSU game. It could be the difference in camera location, but their speed of play was so much faster than ours. The difference with those teams as well, is many seniors etc. Didn't expect to turn it back on to see we were winning. But at this point a result like that will do so much for the girls confidence. Like i said, no reason this team can't win out games until FSU. Miami should be the only loss.

I think it was Vaka playing center back -- she was easily the best player on the field, very calm and cool on the ball, and very difficult to get behind. I like her a lot. Look for her to be the rock as the team moves forward.

Coach will have to lock down the state, the top players from florida need to come to florida.

now we just need to petition to the SEC to add men's soccer, that Is my joke, until the SEC adds men's soccer, the USMNT will continue to flounder.
and side note -- bama, fsu both play better soccer than the USWNT national team.

I didn't watch and only ask this out of ignorance. Was some of our improvement in the second half because ECU substituted to get subs experience as well?

1-0 win tonight, again MD had a golden chance late and couldn’t finish it.
Still so much to work on, we probably had north of 40 turnovers tonight, had no clue how to break a press, a couple of players need to learn they are allowed to pass the ball, no awareness late by a few of them when they could have gone to corners and stayed there, among other things.
But for now, 2-0 is a great place to be considering how last year went.

Another nice win as the Gators are 2-0 for the first time since 2019 and already have matched their win total from last year. As previously stated, the newcomers Bailey, Hinnenkamp and Vaka really stand out and give this team a dynamic that was missing last year. Lena Bailey with her superior speed and strength is going to cause problems for opponents all season. This team has areas of growth, especially with periods of careless passing, but I like the direction the program is headed.

I admit I dont know much about soccer, but watched the game and thought we dominated the game, like you said way too many turnovers. That pass to the goalie at the end and the soft pass to the wing that got intercepted was awful but great save by the person not the goalie..kicked out and then the goalie made a good save. But besides that Maryland didnt do anything worth anything all game.
I tell you who I did like, Bailey, Butts and dang her name escapes me but her number is #4. and #23 on the back end seemed to clean up alot

What my friends who know soccer said is we are missing a true alpha female up top and in the midfield. Dont know what they mean by that but that means 2 alpha females needed soon. lol

oh another thing, the Maryland players were really throwing some shoulders into our girls today and the refs didnt do much about that. Is that normal for soccer? Sorry I am a novice at the sport and my friends say it can be normal but they though Maryland was a bit over the top today and didnt like the refs letting them do it.

Yeah they let them play today a bit more than normal, which was fine. We got some good tackles in too that MD was griping over.
Bailey and Butts were the two I mentioned last game, they will grow into bigger roles. Bailey was in for crunch time today, which she earned.
#4 has the most dynamism on the team probably, but needs to learn team ball, she’s used to being the person who had to do it all in HS, that won’t fly here. There was one exchange with a teammate after she shot from 25 yards out with a teammate wide open in the box, and she said “I know”. So hopefully she’s self aware about it, or the coaches start really pressing it.
I didn’t mention it, but I agree on the alpha in the midfield, our central mid was the other one I was talking about with passing vs. dribbling. She got a yellow today, but that was her only tough tackle i remember in a really physical game. Maybe she was scared of getting a second one? She’s a Minn transfer, so I fear her ceiling just isn’t that high, but we will see. Her playing better than today may be the key to our season.

Agree completely with oragator1's assessment, and Burkegator's description of the passes. Maryland's big chance at the end of the game occured because the UF player waited for a long pass to come to her instead of going to the ball. Still, theses are all issues which can be improved.

What I like is the absence of give-a-ways in the defensive third. I also think that Coach B is taking the correct path in how she's handling the team's psyche after the tough previous years these players have endured. And, this team has several players with SEC-quality footspeed - something UF has sorely lacked the past few years.

There are going to be rough spots this season, maybe a lot of them. But I also see reason for optimism, which I haven't seen in a few years.

Should be interesting season -- Alabama looked terrible against UAB last night. But South Carolina looks pretty good.

Not calling our UFs players -- I'm just overall stunned when i watch some div 1 teams, and the lack of quality they have. It's shocking.

my predictions should hold, we should win all but one game leading up to FSU. Miami last season was a very good defensive team.

Looks like 0-0 at the half vs Miami.....UF 6 shots and Miami has none

Robbed of a victory? Baffling offside call on a corner?
