A lot has been learned since then.

I saw the Stanford lefty had a lot of movement on his pitches and wasn’t necessarily an overwhelming fastball guy. I’m the last person who will pretend to know about pitching (played 1B my entire life up to HS), but I can imagine those elbow ligaments are really straining at 152 pitches when curve balls and sliders are your forte. With what is known today, no coach should do this to their guys. I mean literally we saw a frosh blow his elbow out yesterday because he was asked to pitch twice in 3 days. Watch the replay and you can see on the wild pitch exactly when his left elbow gives out.

I was unaware of our 1996 championship game loss to LSU. Now I really hate them.[IMG]

Lost in the CWS but not the championship game. Our only championship series appearances are 2005 (lost to Texas), 2011 (lost to South Carolina), and 2017 (beat LSU).

LSU did have a perfect CWS finals record until 2017. And then the Gators happened…..

That is getting into lawsuit territory. As a competitor the kid is all for it but the coach has a responsibility to look out for the safety and longevity of his kids, especially if the kid has a future in baseball.

Don’t forget warm ups and in between inning pitches. Probably puts you closer to 450. That is just wild.

Not sure how many pitches he threw in total, but the Southern Miss ace who took the L yesterday also started 3 times in 10 days (Fri, Mon, Sun).

Did not realize that it’s been 11 years since USCe has made it to Omaha.

123/30/86 239 Total. Stanford guy almost 100 more, crazy.

Stanford's pitcher, Quinn Mathews, has 17 of 18 appearances on his stat line with number of pitches. Averages 112 pitches per appearance on the season across the 17 listed.

I thought you could only throw 110 pitches in a game, unless you hit 110 during the inning then you're allowed to finish the inning. So how was he able to stay in the game for 156 pitches?

There are no pitch limits in college D1 baseball. It's just most coaches respect and abide by common sense medical knowledge that a guy throwing too much can damage the arm. O'Sullivan would never, ever abuse a pitcher like that.

Especially the days before Christmas. When I was a kid they dragged on and on. Now it is like "Holy crap. It's Christmas Eve and the tree isn't up?"

Sully abides by this and that is why we recruit pitchers well. Last night the Oregon frosh can 100% attribute his injury to negligent coaching.

I like that CWS teams list but was surprised not to see Wichita State on the list, of the more frequent participants..... I remember following college baseball back in the late 70's and 80's, through the newspaper and regular tv (once the CWS was here). To me, it always seemed like the Shockers were an automatic bid winner for being there. I still remember the play where the Shocker centerfielder (Audley), threw out the runner at home plate. So Glad we have Coach O'Sullivan here for the Gators now and the new park. Looking forward to this years teams' run, and many more runs at the trophy in the future.

    GO GATORS!!!!
