Indiana State hosting special Olympics and have hotel and staffing issues as a result so declined.

 

The whining from SEC crew/Vols fans show how little they pay attention..

USm was the higher seed this time a week ago on selection day,, why would that change? I agree it should be more transparent(seed the T 32) but USM was next in line for T16 host,,or next 2. Vols were few spots back of that. Its obvious a little seeding is used in 17-32, just based on the 2 seed distribution,, Vols were at a top 8.

Im still little surprised Vols didnt get it b/c SEC,,which IMo is whre the whining is coming from. SEC teams so used to being pampered they freak out when not.

If not going to seed T 32, should reseed Supers IMO

Once the new format starts(hopefully) this is a non issue.

 

Quick question: If it's the best of three...if you win the first two, (logic says) you're done. (or two of three) Does the loser play in a losers bracket? Or are they kicked to the curb and that's that if you lose?? Or does it function like the regionals?

I guess I never really thought about it.

Losers are done. Winners advance and go to Omaha. Win first two, move on. Win two of three, move on.

 

Since there is only 2 teams, I guess they would play themselves. LOL.

Not sure what the NCAA distance limit is, but Auburn drove almost 2 hours to & from field at Org St last year.

 

Baseball much less predictable than softball. Only 9 of the 16 baseball seeds made it to Supers whereas 13 of the 16 softball teams advanced. Guess that is one of the reasons it is so fun to watch.

 

It sounds like having people who could help run the regional was an issue as well. I am guessing they are a smaller school and not as many people to call upon.

From the manual for regionals: (I would speculate it is the same for supers).

Lodging. The host institution/agency shall negotiate a courtesy hold for the participating
institutions/student-athlete(s). The selected hotel properties shall be within no more than 30
miles of the competition site and be priced at a fair and reasonable market room rate. The
selection of a competition site may be dependent on availability and quality of rooms for
participating institutions/student-athletes. A letter of intent template is provided by the NCAA
for the host to use to confirm the hold with the hotel(s).

A minimum of 25 double-double rooms should be reserved by the host institution for the
visiting team(s) for all regional and super regional round games. See the Preliminary-Rounds
Host Operations Manual for more details on the lodging requirements

 

After the game, Auburn head coach Butch Thompson revealed that the Tigers were dealt with an additional challenge for this weekend in the form of where the team hotel is located. Auburn is staying in a hotel in Wilsonville, which is a suburb of Portland over an hour away, according to BeaverBlitz’s Carter Bahns. According to Google maps, the drive from Corvallis to Wilsonville is right at a 69-mile drive.
