From my experience ole miss fans just think the NCAA is against them with all their sanctions while Bama skates.

Great job by Burns. Dollander is an enigma, pretty much unhittable last year and undefeated. Not so much this year.

Agree, but so far it seems wake left the bats and D at home. Why have sun glasses if ur not gonna use them. 2-0 Tigers in 4th. I'm a bit surprised.

Bang bang play with runner called out at home. Great play by the Wake catcher! Under review but I think he got him on the right knee. If call stands it will be 2 on and 1 out. If not Tigers take the lead 3-2.

Wake Forest is impressive, folks. I hope that's who we play for the national title. Loved watching LSU go down.

IF LSU beats UT tomorrow, then they will have some interesting choices re Skenes. Bring him back on 5 days on Wednesday or hope you can force a game 2 and use him Thursday. IF they used him Wed you can bet they would try and use him again in a possible game 3 of the finals.
Best scenario , Skenes and the Wake #1 go deep pitching an if necessary game Thursday.
Worst scenario, Wake finishes them Wed and UF has to use Sproat for an if necessary on Thursday

They have to pitch Skenes. They will be facing Wake’s rested #3 in an elimination game for them but not for Wake. If they win that then their #2 is on a 3 day rest for Thursday. Or they can go with Johnny Wholestaff.

I fully agree with not having to pull everything, going for the home run or striking out. Nothing in between. Good hitters will hit where the pitch is - if it's outside they push the ball to the opposite field (or center if the pitch is down the pipe) vs pulling it. Pulling an outside pitch often leads to choppy grounders to the shortstop. Only pull if it's on the meat of the plate and you think you can hit it out. Otherwise, hit for % and runs. One big advantage we had over them were far fewer runners left on base. We only had 5 hits but most (3/5) were homers and scored runs. They left 5 runners on base in the last 2 innings alone. Just about gave us all a heart attack in the process but thankfully we got stops when we really needed them.

This entire tournament so far is very unusual in that no blowout games at all. In the end every game has ended up close. I have a hard time believing this trend will continue as we are now into loser bracket game scenarios for teams for which you are now diving into deep these team’s pitching rosters. It is hard to put away teams given the yo yo nature of these games. You have a lead and it looks a team has the game won and then all of a sudden you get latter in the game and then stuff happens. The theme in winning any of these games is can you deal mentally in these wild momentum shifts that go on at some point in the game or not. Some of that is a function of these umpires which is why I’m not a real fan of what I see out of them at times. They represent the intangible factor in these games that in the theory you should not have to deal with at all. It is hard enough playing the opposing team and dealing with the pressures of this type of game but then you must deal with the uncertainty of what the umpires do during the game because it can take only one call to change the course of any of these games. At some point you would think the blowout game for someone is about to happen thus taking the umpires out of the game in terms of affecting any momentum shift.

Well a strong Skenes is their best shot.....but let's realize he threw 123 pitches on Saturday night, so trying to get a strong performance from him is more likely on Thursday. And yes, you have to get to Thursday first....but if he has nothing in the tank Wednesday that's no good either. You have to win a game with the staff one way or the other......you are not bringing the #2 guy back on Thursday after a 100 pitches Monday night.
And this is not even considering what's in the best interest of the kid and his arm. Imagine the repercussions if he clutches that arm after a short turnaround. Mybe Skenes has a rubber arm and recovers very quickly, every kid is different. But if you burn Skenes Wed then Wake has their #1 going Thurs vs your #4 so you go right back to a huge disadvantage.
Exactly why winning game 2 is so important

Wasn't the first home run opposite field? How is that pulling?
