That’s great too but I’ll love just seeing 2nd and five consistently. That’s the basis for a good offense.

Heard Mizell returning kicks in practice. Could special teams be where he makes his first impact? Also said to badly need to bulk up.

Wilson underneath, Jean on intermediate routes and Mizell on deep routes. Jean will be good going after deep balls too but doesn't have quite the long speed Mizell has.

Looking like Jean might break out first but give Mizell a whole year in the weight room and I see them both starting next year. Wilson needs to bulk up as well. Hope he's working a nutrition plan at home. I can easily see him and Mizell returning kicks and Wilson on punt returns.

I hope we have some speed to utilize because we have looked plain slow.

I hope they are just those tough kids that can take a lick and you think he’s surely dead but he pops back up and is the first to the huddle. Those kind put on the weight but you could never hurt them anyway.

Willie Gault had that long speed but Jerry Rice still got more long balls because of his routes. Speed is nice but Van Jefferson was always open. There’s a reason wrs are wrs and speed helps but that’s just extra. Charlie Joiner, Wes Welker, Jerry Rice,Steve Largent, Michael Irvin… none were considered fast but no one in the history of football could cover them. If they had the physical ability of Randy Moss, there would be a record that would never be touched. Rice set all the records and physically may be slightly above average if you look at the nfl receivers.

On deep balls, long speed makes the difference. Rice had great length and explosive acceleration once he got going. Irving too and they were covered by DBs with shorter legs.

FWIW, Mizell is a good route runner and gets great separation on deep routes. Very physical for his size. I like Jean’s shiftiness. That and his bulk give him an advantage over Mizell early on.

Like Smith from Bama. 170 soaking wet, never hurt and fearless on going over the middle.

Exactly who I was thinking of. Great example of a star/superstar receiver who is tiny by college or NFL standards.

I still remember us asking Marco Wilson to cover DeVonta Smith man-to-man late in the 2020 SEC Championship Game. It was a sick joke. Easiest touchdown you'll ever see.

Some WRs grab every pass in the vicinity as well. Never let a DB out position them and use their body and hands to catch everything that comes there way

There was an in-state guy like that in the '23 class but he'll be playing for OSU.

I'll feel so much better as soon as both Jean and Mizell can make an impact. You need to have 2 to 3 guys who can put a defense on its heels.

Yep, Rice and Irvin got some decent separation at times but they had the power forward low post moves, they blocked out the db’s and got the ball. Jean could be really good.
