2022 NCAA Tournament Outlook

When we win the sec tourney next week we will be in. Book it.

Plenty of teams could use some rest at this point but we really need a few days to get semi-healthy. Given that we are not riding some sort of hot streak, maybe 4 days without a game will do us some good.

 

The most painful loss was to Texas A&M. Should have won it and we would be 10-8 in SEC play.

 

2 wins and Florida will still get in since they'll have to beat Auburn again, but might not even win the first SECt game. Vandy just won at Miss so they may move back to a Quad 1 and 2 victory so 2 more wins should do.

Maryland on paper isn't a bad loss anymore even though most of us know that it really is. Maryland's Net ranking is up to 87 which is a Quad 2 loss on a neutral court. Florida is 13-1 vs Quad 3 or 4 teams. Even the Miss loss is a Quad 2 loss since the loss was on the road, but you're right that they're now 13-18 so it definitely could be considered a bad loss.

 

Murray state is down in the second half in their championship game. If morehead state wins it’s an at large bid gone.

 

Meanwhile A&M is up 12 vs Miss St. with under 8 to play meaning the Gators would have to play them again. A&M would be on a 4 game winning streak so it will be no easy game.

If Vandy moves up 2 spots in the Net Ranking after winning at Miss, it would count as Florida's 3rd Quad 1 win and make them 5-2 vs Quad 2. A&M's Net Ranking coming in today was 56 and at the very least be a chance for another Quad 2 win. Somehow if they win really big and got to a Net of 50, they'd actually count as another Quad 1 win, but it's probably doubtful that will happen.

This is why 2 wins vs A&M and Auburn would imo get Florida in, but in all honesty it's hard to know if they will even win the 1st game. If they got past A&M, I do think Auburn is the best of the matchups Florida could face in the qtr-finals for whatever that's worth. It could be similar to the Nembhard 3 point shot to get past LSU in the qtr-finals getting Florida in the dance a few years back. The problem is how inconsistent this team has been, it's hard to see them doing this, but we can certainly hope.

 

UNC was getting in ahead of us regardless of tonight.

This team fought to hard not to make it.
Besides Kentucky we can play with any team in SEC.
Losing JJ cost us ,1-2 games he was coming on.
