If a kid would change his decision based on that you have to think how solid he was in his commitment in the first place. I don't see this affecting Dijon's choice at all but just my opinion.
agreed but kids would be well served to only tell the HC and the coach who’s recruiting him that he’s committing and no one else. i think kids would be wise to first announce where they’re going THEN drop a committed video/social media edit
My thoughts too. If a "leak" changes a recruits decision about what is the best school for him, then there is a much bigger issue with the kid. The best school is the best school regardless of if the recruit gets to do an announcement video, annoucement in the gymnasium at school etc. If he suddenly says "well, Florida was the best school and fit all my needs, but now I have to go to South Carolina because someone stole my announcement thunder..." then he was never going to Florida to begin with.
I’m not thinking it changed his mind, but it’s a big deal for these kids and it might make him push the date back to build up the suspense again. I’m not saying Dijon is like this, but we’ve seen how recruits can flip back and forth easily. If they do that when committed, they can do it much easier when they haven’t announced a commitment. Hence, I can’t imagine any time spent uncommitted (if he was going to commit last weekend) is a good thing. Might not be bad either, but not good IMO. Would have been better for us to land him last weekend.
But he's the ONE that leaked any such news. UF can't comment on recruits and if he told any recruitnik he was leaning to UF, that's on him, not UF.
Two things I gather from this: 1. I do think they shouldn't tell anyone, but if these "grown ups" can't help saying they're privy to a secret, it's hard to expect a teenager to hold in his excitement (media guys pretend to be confidential). They're just learning how the world works. 2. It does affect ones mood and overall "feel" about a situation (commitment) or organization (UF, its fans and "its media"). It would annoy any one of us, probably more to a teenager. Got to consider that many times they really are on the fence btw 2 or 3 schools and if something "kills the mood" it could get a teenager to reassess, giving the others time to swoop back in. In this case it seems he's just letting things cool until he feels it's the right time, and not a troll or a little b* like AJ Harris.
