We stayed at a BNB next to one of the largest Temple in Paris. The local streets were safed off with security guards at each and and roaming private security patrols. It isn't just in the USA
The result is the same, but I don’t think the motivation is anti semitism, it is a misguided preference for Palestinian or Muslim groups that they feel are “oppressed” and give them more tolerance as they are deemed “multicultural”, where Jews are viewed along with whites are oppressors, and thus are fair game for more extreme speech directed towards them.
I keep hearing how dangerous the influence of TikTok is. I'm just wondering if there is evidence that it is spewing disinformation and misinformation with regard to antisemitism topics?
It’s not Tik Tok per se. It is dumb users and social media platforms tend to elevate dumb stuff because that is what engages users. Here is an example where TikTok posts are leading many young people to feel like todays economy is comparable to the Great Depression. Poll: Young Voters Facing Tough Economic Reality - Change Research TikTok - Make Your Day
Is it TiK Tok, and/or has education, instruction and emphasis of the Holocaust been reduced to a glimpse of what it was in the classroom over the decades to make room and more emphasis for the current topics of the day? IE: CRT, minority group causes, DEI and climate change. There are only so many hours in the educational day. Some topics had to be scaled back to make room for the current agenda.
Whatever the level of Holocaust instruction its much more than instruction people get on the plight of the Palestinians. Even outside of school, there is much more American media devoted to the Holocaust, the Nazis and WWII as a subject matter than anything happening in the Middle East that doesn't involve Americans directly. Maybe they should teach people about Palestine in school, then it would just be boring stuff at school, not 'forbidden knowledge' the government and media wont tell you.
Short answer, no. The only thing that may be discussed is climate change in a science class. Minority group causes? You mean the Civil Rights Movement? If so, then yes that is taught in the appropriate class. As a side note, pretty sure you don’t understand what CRT or DEI actually is.
Its sort of rich that we've spent decades nuking the humanities as a subject from kindergarten to college saying its worthless at best and indoctrination at worst, and then are shocked at the rampant ignorance it might produce
The contingent who wants historical atrocities wiped from the history books is flabbergasted that youngsters are ignorant when it comes to historical atrocities. Shocker!
The article said it the holocaust skepticism was across all levels of education, so it wasn’t just woke colleges. Whether Tik Tok is a primary cause isn’t known but it is a primary news source for that demographic and apparently does have such content although I would know I don’t use TikTok.
I agree about free speech to an extent... Unless it becomes viewed as threatening. However, This is pretty rich from the crowd that tosses "hate" accusations around everytime someone steps one inch outside of the pRogReSsIvE lane. I bet they dont like how it feels coming back to them. People defend this yet are outraged by the "hate" of someone saying you are the gender you were born with, or you should be allowed to bake the cake you want. Political hypocrisy has become humorous to me.
I guess it’s just a matter of perspective. To me, it’s clear that the “hate” accusation does not come mainly from the left here. And it’s not even close
Although the Nazi party called itself socialist the economy under Hitler can most accurately be described as crony capitalism. Hitler was by no means on the left. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2001/04/hitlers-willing-business-partners/303146/ Getting back to the subject of this thread the survey is indicative of the poor teaching of history in US schools combined with the sad fact that so many Americans (and not just young people) rely on social media for their "news". They read posts or watch videos on sites like Tik Tok, X formerly called Twitter, Facebook (although its audience seems to be skewed more towards boomers and Gen X than Millennials and Gen Z) and Instagram and think what they're seeing/reading is factual.
National SOCIALIST Worker’s Party was probably a typo. But it would have cost too damned much money to reprint all those flyers.
