I have 0 issue with that call. No D-1, FBS, P5 team should lose a game because the defense failed to cover on a 4th and 17 play.
Max gets an easy 1st down if he keeps the ball on 2nd down. There's just so much that could go wrong trying to throw the ball in that situation...
Etienne needed to stay in bounds and the defense just can't give up an easy 4th and 17 conversion like that. It was ridiculous how little pressure...
