I love(d) and frequented all three of those places. Was terribly bummed when cafe gardens closed. You have great taste! :-)

Great to hear you like Hogans, too. I always go there at least once, if not two or three times when I visit my mom. Pretty good place to watch a game, too.

me giving you rep is like a scratch off ticket winner giving the richest man in the world..a fifty dollar tip.
Nobody has more rep than you .
      Not on this planet.
But, since you have been overly generous with me, the least I can do is salute you personally.
      Thanks

Love those Cracker Houses. Mention them up north and they think you are an ignorant redneck when in truth they are elegant, practical and extremely versatile. Keep your mansions. Give me a well designed Cracker House and I'm a pretty happy guy though a Craftsman house is a pretty close second. Maybe it's porches. ; ) Thanks for the compliment. Enjoy that house you lucky sumagun!

J - delighted to call you friend. Per an earlier exchange we had via PM, I knew your first when we were children. Her father and mine were "camellia buddies" in the Gainesville Camellia Society. We used to visit them a lot when they lived out on that lake beyond Hawthorne. She went to PKY before I did and was a class behind so didn't see her as much then.

Got my small pond with 3 goldfish and assorted plants established last fall and it weathered the first cold snap in early December well. All the fish survived. I've been in Texas for the last 9 days assisting my daughter so this latest cold snap (last week) has me a little apprehensive.

My pond is small - only about 40 gallons. Plan to put in a 100 -125 gallon one in the spring. I dug, lined and constructed the rocks all by myself on the small one but know I will need help for the larger one. It was fun, though!

I am a child of the 60's, marched, smoked, flunked out of UF more than once, graduated on time with a BS in Journalism, taught middle school kids, worked for local & state teacher unions, owned a Political Consulting business, managed campaigns, did demographic work for those weird looking election districts everyone but the courts hate, wrote & edited a newsletter on Florida Politics and now in the process of retiring from the Florida Dept of Children & Families.
I live in the N Cent Fl scrub with turkeys, deer and assorted other wild critters on 30 acres of scrub in Irvine not far off I 75.
I love words, music (R & R, R & B, Blues, anything by Bob Dylan, Levon Helm or Warren Zevon), and believe Don Imus is a hero for his straight talk & all the charities he supports and causes he champions.
