Another 1-run thriller! Congrats, Gators, everyone contributed - got a hit, made a play, pitched fearlessly, and cheered our throats sore! We're out numbered here by my unscientific guess of 1000-1, but the Gator contingent is loud and proud. You should see the Langworthy group from Williston! They take up the entire top row of the Gator fan section and just the greatest/nicest people you ever wanted to meet. On to game 2. May the result be as fabulous. TV: ESPN Radio: Go to http://floridagators.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball find the game and click "Listen" Weather: 79 at the start and 75 at the finish. 47% chance of precip decreasing to 37%. Wind SSE at 15 = blowing in from right/center field. Starter: Dyson Go Gators !
We will never see the Langworthy group because ESPN only believes in showing family members of LSU players. Anyway, GO GATORS!!!
Gators beat LSU's pitcher, Poche' back on March 25th when they played in Gainesville. Poche's line ...... 4 IP, 6 hits, 4 walks, 4 runs, 3 earned runs, 2 k's, 1 wild pitch, 73 pitches. He took the loss and the Gators won 8-1.
Dyson likely on the mound for the Gators. induce some ground balls that will be vacuumed up by gator infielders! Or throw it by the LSU batters that will blow dry their peroxide hair....
Posted this in the game 1 thread, so doing it again! Appease the baseball gods, you know! What's your word of advice to the team or a particular player or sully or another coach, for Game 2? Word of encouragement, or advice for tonight? Mine: To each gator at-bat: don't try to hit the home run, just try to hit a gap. To Dyson: trust yourself, be confident in the pitch. and don't be afraid if they hit it, trust the gators behind you to play some defense. To Sully: trust your gut! If you get an itchy eye again tonight, it's a good sign. To dugout: cheer heartily for each other, have fun. Get the iced water ready for a dousing! Or two!! Bell at third base: practice that windmill sign , get it ready. Paint your hands fluorescent orange so, if you put up the stop sign, they can see it! Gator fans in Omaha: be loud and fanatical! Out numbered 1000 to 1, you're up against the Leviathan of baseball. You think Dyson has a tough task facing Poche?! Child's play vs what you are up against! enjoy the experience. Represent! This is some fantastic stuff! We aren't favored again. Given virtually no shot tonight. I love it! Each hit tonight for the Gators will bring big momentum, I'm betting! Let's get this done. Seize the opportunity! Seize the game!
As you sit in the locker room pulling that proud uni on today Gators, know what is in front of you. You have prepared yourselves for it all year long. Relish the moment, strap it on, and--- Take the field today with pride and determination. Let them know by the way you stare across the field at them that it is your time. Let's do this Gators!
Last night was the epitome of the 2017 Gator Baseball team. They were out hit but they made the hits when they needed them and, most importantly, were tough enough to prevail. The incredible number of one run victories show how much of a will to win these kids have. I have mixed feelings about today's game. I want the Gators to win but I hate that it would be the last game for this great group. Obviously, I would be more than happy to not have the extra game to enjoy.
One game, this is our time! “Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that’s what you have here, tonight, boys. That’s what you’ve earned here tonight. One game… If we played ’em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game… Not tonight. Tonight, we hit with them. Tonight, we battle them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest baseball team in the world!! This is your time. Their time is done. It’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearing about what a great baseball program LSU has. Screw ’em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it.” – Coach Herb Brooks paraphrased by gatorbogey ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5 Things to Remember about the Miracle Hockey Speech Hard work and dedication will create new opportunities for you. Before we can achieve anything, we must believe it in our heart and minds. Nothing in life happens by chance. You must focus on what you truly want. To be the best, you must think that you are the best! You can’t expect to have every new opportunity given to you. There are times when you must take what’s rightfully yours!
Oh yea did anyone know that an LSU player's Dad recorded his 2nd home run of the game on Saturday? Well he did in case you missed the 200 times BSPN showed it
Congrats to our guys for the first CWS final win in program history! That's no small feat. However, we threw Singer against Johnny Wholestaff. We were supposed to win this game. Kudos on getting it done, but the next win will be even harder. With Dyson starting today, what do you think is the game plan? Of course we're hoping that Dyson can bring the same kind of stuff he had in the Super Regional, but that's a big ask for a true freshman. If Dyson can give us 4 or 5, who is after him? Maybe a combo of Horvath and Langworthy? Would Byrne be available for the closer role still? How do we see it potentially playing out?
