Brendan Bett - Baylor Portal DT Commits to UF

    With all of the concern about thin DT depth, I'm surprised no one has posted this yet:

    6'5"/300 and 3 stars coming out of high school. Bett will be a redshirt sophomore as he redshirted the 2024 season only playing in the Baylor bowl game, so he has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

    Florida defensive coordinator Ron Roberts, who spent the 2020-22 seasons with the Bears, played a part in Bett's recruitment to Baylor.

    The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Bett, a native of Killeen (Texas) Ellison, made 10 appearances and one start during his 2023 freshman season, recording nine total tackles including one for loss, one sack and two defended passes.

    Good pick up. Bett was a projected starter for Baylor this year.

    Good FR numbers. Do we know why he didn't play last year?

    I'd still like to see a NT type added, then I'd be happy with the DT room.

    Apparently it was academics. He must have taken the year off to get his grades fixed.

    TY- Cam Parker posted that as well. Seems like a good addition.

    "At Baylor, Bett played in 10 games as a freshman in 2023 with nine tackles and one sack. PFF graded him as the fourth best freshman defensive lineman at the time. He did not play in the 2024 regular season due to academic ineligibility and earned a redshirt. His lone appearance as a sophomore came in the Texas Bowl loss to LSU."

    He was expected to play a large role at Baylor, so I expect he will be as much in the rotation as Robinson would have been.
