Multiple countries with no tariffs on US products were charged "reciprocal tariffs." See, for example, Singapore, which has a free trade with the US that makes 100% of US imports duty free.
Yes, I am very happy with no tariffs. I don't want to reduce my purchasing power and have worse quality of life. The only exception being targeted, thoughtful tariffs calculated with underlying data (e.g to prevent significant job loss in sectors like automotives)

I just love that he said to "Please go educate yourself" when he clearly knows nothing about this. I mean, the notion that Argentina and Brazil had the same tariff rates as Singapore is so absurd to anybody with any background on global trade that it took about 5 seconds for the whole game to fall apart.
Yes, the goal is to have no tariffs, to get there we just had to massively raise tariffs and also float things like the idea of replacing income tax with tariffs we are not actually going to have.
More succinctly: tariffs are a cool idea when Democrats talk about deploying them; not so much when Republicans do.
Tariffs are a sort of traditional left-wing policy. I’m sure many American democrats support tariffs, particularly those who would call themselves pro-union or pro-labor. Tariffs often come along with that. Problem is Trump doest just move slightly in the leftist direction, between 150% tariffs and pressuring the central bank he blows well to the left of any democrat - it’s almost a “what would Hugo Chavez do” roadmap. Which is why pretty much everything was being sold last week, including bonds and currency. It seems someone got in his ear to get the messaging back to stave this off (either that or it’s just more market manipulation).
I still support tariffs when done correctly and strategically. They just don't support the tariff incompetency that your dear leader is displaying. For example, we charge $145% tariff on China get now Trump is talking about reducing that tariff without any concessions? You've just shown your hand and given China an advantage. Trump is clueless

Did you want him to implement a nationwide lockdown like Europe? You do realize that is unconstitutional and would've instantly been overturned. I would rather have gone to jail than to have obeyed any type of illegal nationwide lockdown. Never mind that it's been proven that the U.S. recovered quicker than Europe and Canada because the U.S. didn't do a full nationwide lockdown. It's also been proven that states who reopened earlier, like Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Texas, recovered much quicker than states like California, New York and Louisiana. Like all Democrat states, the only thing that saved California and New York was Biden's bail out, which I don't think should have happened. There is nothing Trump could have done during Covid that would've satisfied you. But please, tell me what you would have done differently?

Nice straw man ... I didn't say Trump was to blame for Covid, I said Trump mishandled Covid, and now blames Fauci for it. Trump continuing to blame Fauci for whatever HE perceives went wrong is an admission that even Trump knows he screwed up. Now Trump is trying to Powell, when the fact is, every time Trump announces a new half baked tariff plan, the markets crash, inflation worries tick up, interest rates tick up, and consumer confidence ticks down.... and that's entirely on Trump for opening his mouth.
