Yeah. Stricklin won’t even force Napier out. We’re screwed.

Final Rankings 2025 from Road to Nationals:

    Standings

Of the 86 collegiate women's team gymnastics programs, the top 10 are the cream of the crop, 11-20 are good, and teams 21-86 are looking up wanting what the better programs deliver on a regular basis.

The SEC is the dominate conference with 6 of the top 10 and 9 of the top 20. I keep hearing rumors that Texas A&M is planning for an SEC program, but I've heard that for 2 years now.

    1 Oklahoma
    2 UCLA
    3 Missouri
    4 Utah
    5 LSU
    6 Michigan State
    7 Florida
    8 Alabama
    9 California
    10 Kentucky

Finished with 80% of my top 10 preseason predictions. Alabama and Kentucky replaced two of my top 10, Arkansas finsished 11 and Denver finished 12.

I only hit on one of the top 4, Oklahoma. My preseason top 4:

    1. Florida
    2. LSU
    3. Oklahoma
    4. California

Hopefully, I'll do better next season.

Good for the Gators to stay and watch what could have been:

Hopefully, watching OU celebrate will be motivation for the 2026 season.

After going on the road in 2025 to Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, and Oklahoma, these teams should be coming to Gainesville in 2026. The Gators should be going on the road to Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, and Missouri. That's schedule advantage Florida.

Earlier I said I loved gymnastics. I’m gonna rephrase that. I love watching our kids perform gymnastics. I love rooting and cheering for them. I love being on the edge of my seat praying and hoping for their success and the fulfillment of their dreams that they’ve sacrificed so much for their entire lives to try and achieve. All that I love. On the other hand how collegiate gymnastics is governed and judged…I hate it. Hurts to say but our Gator Girls were pretty bad when it mattered most. They didn’t perform anywhere close to the level they needed to to be in the final four. I still got beef with the system however.

There’s a general philosophy in every team sport that I can think of minus gymnastics. That philosophy is we don’t decide who wins or loses based on statistics on a piece of paper. We play the games on the field, court, pitch or ice rink because of the knowledge that any team can beat any other team on any given day. Often the best teams on paper win but a significant percentage of the time they don’t and that’s what makes sports great. Postseason in gymnastics is a JOKE however because unless the favored team lands on their buttocks 3-4 times in one rotation nobody else has a chance. Postseason is/should be the most exciting time of the season in any sport. Apparently gymnastics thinks otherwise and prefers boring and predetermined.

Would the 2008 NY Giants have won the Super Bowl against the Patriots if the NFL operated the same way gymnastics does? Of course not. The Patriots were so good during the regular season we have to give them a free td and fg. The Giants weren’t that impressive in the regular season so we’re going to subtract a fg and safety from their score. Result from that is the favored team wins and the thrill and excitement of postseason is dead. Thank goodness most sports don’t operate the way gymnastics does. I’ll always love and root for our girls but the way it’s governed now is criminal. I’m no expert, I know nothing, I probably am 100% idiot. I’m ok with that.

I understand what you're saying, but do you really believe we deserved to advance Thursday? I don't think we did.

The most memorable moments in sports history are when the unexpected things happen. I’m not a bosox fan but I’ll never forget their comeback in the ALCS against the Yankees. Rare as they are those amazing moments happen in sports. Those moments are possible in sports. Not gymnastics though. To my uneducated eye gymnastics seems specifically designed to take any and all elements of excitement and surprise out of the “postseason “. Number one going in you win plain and simple…as long as you don’t stick landings with your butt a lot.

Our girls had a horrible performance plain and simple. I specifically said that. They absolutely didn’t deserve to advance. That said doesn’t change anything about what I’m talking about.

22,23 robberies I stand with this poster. Why didn’t they win in 22,23? Performance no way. Stupid, ingrained bias is why. Gymnastics doesn’t want excitement and potential magic. It wants hum drum bs. And maybe paychecks from the love family dynasty.

Way Too Early Top 10 Power Rankings for 2026:

Way Too Early Power Rankings for the 2026 Season - College Gym News

This is one writer's opinions at College Gym News. I don't put much significance to his rankings as he 100% failed to mention Skye Blakely. Unless the writer knows something I don't, Skye is returning plus she should be completely healed and competing all around.

    1. Oklahoma
    2025 Finish: No. 1
The defending national champion will feel the loss of two of the nation’s top gymnasts in Jordan Bowers, the 2025 NCAA all-around champion, and Audrey Davis. But the Sooners reload quickly, bringing in the nation’s top two recruits—Mackenzie Estep and Kamila Pawlak—who are projected to make immediate lineup impacts. Fellow five-star recruit Ella Murphy should also challenge for a vault spot. A key factor in making Oklahoma the early title favorite again is how much competition experience this year’s freshman class gained en route to the title. With Faith Torrez now the team’s undisputed star, she enters 2026 as the gymnast to beat.

    2. Florida
    2025 Finish: No. 7
After entering the postseason as the No. 3 seed, the Gators suffered a surprise semifinal exit that snapped their streak of team final appearances. The loss of Olympic alternate Leanne Wong is significant, but Florida gains another Olympic alternate in Kayla DiCello, who will return from injury. A healthy roster will be essential to ending the program’s decade-long title drought. Selena Harris-Miranda and Anya Pilgrim are expected to contend with Torrez for top all-around honors, and five-star recruits Jocelyn Sasson and Madelyn Dorbin are well-equipped to fill key lineup gaps.

    3. LSU
    2025 Finish: No. 5
The Tigers fell short in their attempt to defend their 2024 title, ending the season with a semifinal exit and saying goodbye to stars Haleigh Bryant and Aleah Finnegan. Replacing those routines is no small task, but LSU is bringing in a stacked freshman class with three five-star recruits—all ranked in the top 11. Bars standout Haley Mustari should be an immediate contributor while Nina Ballou and Elyse Wenner will vie for all-around roles. Kailin Chio and Konnor McClain can carry the Tigers far on their own but will benefit from that rookie support. LSU could also be active in the transfer portal.

    4. UCLA
    2025 Finish: No. 2
The biggest post-NCAAs development for the Bruins was Jordan Chiles confirming her return for her senior year, putting to rest any uncertainty about her status. Her return alone vaults UCLA back into title contention. The team will need to replace 10 key routines, but five-star U.S. elite Tiana Sumanasekera joins the roster in the fall and should immediately help fill some of those gaps. If the Bruins can stay healthy, they have everything they need to contend once again.

Its an interesting topic on what goes into the secret sauce for champions. What makes a team mentally tough when it counts? Sure a coach can be a hard ass, but I don't think that's it. It seems team leadership is one part, but also team cohesion. I think of our best Gator teams and they were close and seemed to play for each other. A positive kind of peer pressure. Sure there have been some ME-Teams that have won the title, but it seems those are not the norm. I think the last ingredient (outside general talent) is having that Alpha who refuses to lose and holds others to the same standard. Like a Tim Tebow, Walter Clayton, or Bridget Sloan.

LSU didn’t make it either. Two of the top 4 teams didn’t make it. Not understanding what you’re saying about favoring top teams.

Anyone want to discuss the incoming freshies? We have some good ones and they seem healthy!

Amelia Disidore (sister of gabby): elite gymnast. Can factor on all events. Likely will compete a pod vault like Leanne.

Jocelyn Sasson: from Brandy Johnson’s gym (same as SJS). 5* recruit. Strongest events are bars and floor but has a solid 1.5 vault. Full in on floor. DP natty qualifier

Maddy Dorbin: from Georgia Elite (same gym as Sav). 5* recruit. Really strong AA. Triple series on beam like Gowey. Double lay on floor. 1.5 on vault. Excellent bars. DP natty qualifier

Jayla Booker: from American Twisters (our first from that gym in Miami!). Full in on floor. Triple series on beam. Ray on bars. Only competes a full on vault but is training a 1.5. DP natty qualifier

most of the other teams have quite a few injuries in their incoming freshies (OU only has one out of 5 competing at DP nationals). Very excited about this class!

I really like the 2025 class:

Amelia Disidore - She is not only an elite gymnast, but she was also a senior national team member. Rated 4 stars at College Gym News, I'm thinking she has 5-star talent, underrated. Do you know if Amelia was injured? She just seemed to drop out of sight for a year.

Jocelyn Sasson - Is Jocelyn going to be a 3-event performer? I've not watched any video so don't know much more than she moved from a Seattle gym to Brandy Johnson's. UF has done extremely well with Seattle area gymnasts.

Maddy Dorbin - Glad to see she is an all arounder. Maybe Taylor Clark on steroids? I'll be looking for Taylor to add vault to her floor next.

Jayla Booker - She has glowed up in the last year showing exceptional talent in 3 events. If she can add a 1.5 vault, Jayla could grow into a talented all arounder.

As much as I really like the 2025 class, Ly Bui would have been in this class before she came early to UF, I love the 2026 class which I think is the best in the nation:

    Dulcy Caylor
    Kieryn Finnell
    Jayla Hang
    Simone Rose

All four are 5-star talents who compete nationally and internationally.

It's going to be exciting to watch the next few seasons. UF barring injuries will be the most talent laden team in the nation, just need to get the talent off paper and into performance reality.
