https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/5108014/aj-brown https://247sports.com/player/aj-brown-46102511/ How we feelin about this gator nation? While his stats aren't mind boggling, we all know Golden has his own internal stat system he values over traditional stats. So who knows how he ranks on that.
Also just entered the portal today with the no contact tag per the news. So this rumor very much tracks. He at least already has a school he's talking to.
Was he hurt in 2023-2024? He only played in nine games and most of his numbers utterly cratered that season.
From CBB Analytics, here's how he compared to each of our guards, with our guard's number outlined & Brown's colored. The circled number is CBB's similarity score. Clayton Martin Richard
Those are fascinating graphs. Richard is the one he reminds me of mostly. Bigger, physical guard who can play the three, good spot up shooter who can also score in the paint. Definitely more of a complementary player, but would also be able to give us 2 years.
I was already looking forward to Isaiah next season with his size, speed, and ability plus a tough match up as a left hander. He has a good looking outside shot to boot. We were just too deep this season to give him very many minutes. That won't be a problem next season. Bringing in AJ would give UF two big 6'4" guards. Duke is bringing in twins. Let's bring in a brother. AJ has 2 years of remaining eligibility. AJ also has what it takes to survive academically at UF: Mitchell, Brown Named Academic All-MAC - Ohio University With 6'3" national top 40 player true freshman guard Alex Lloyd, the Gators would have the 6'4" Brown brothers and 6'3" Lloyd to go along with 6'5" Aberdeen and 6'1" Klavzar: https://247sports.com/Player/alex-lloyd-46134624/ My feeling is the Gators have a chance to repeat 2006/2007 in 2025/2026 depending on how the NBA draft goes with Condon and Haugh. I still remember how excited Gator Nation was when the 04s announced as a group they were coming back to do it again. That moment was huge for what happened in college basketball 2007. Al Horford is still playing in the NBA, and he looks like he can play a few more seasons if he wants to.
What I really like is that we would have him for two years. With him as a senior, Isaiah as a junior, and Ingram and Lloyd as sophomores, that would be a pretty stout group. Just need a legitimate one to run the show.
I still love the first part of that tweet, Per Reports, the National Champion Florida Gators are the favorite for Ohio's AJ Brown.
I want someone who will fast break and throw down a dunk of the tourney over two guys who are fouling him...
...wise far beyond their years. Truly, four of the most remarkable youngsters I have seen in my life. Remember the press conference after the 2d championship announcing they were leaving...it was the saddest thing you could have ever seen. Most kids are jumping for joy...broke my heart.
At 6'4"/210. it's going to be interesting to see if UF has a Martin or a Richard: Florida basketball gets commitment from Ohio guard AJ Brown My preference would be a Martin, the physical enforcer. Either way, this is a winning pickup. Welcome aboard AJ. It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
